This monument was always on our visit list, but we were thrilled to go on Liberation day,5th may, and find a big gay festival and party there for the afternoon and evening. It was such a happy and friendly vibe, and quite different to the more sombre vibe when we went again the next day. The 'pink point' stand there will give lbgt information and some different souvenirs to the usual. A brilliant day, and to have celebrated with the gay community at the monument was a definite highlight.

When there is a new change coming all over the entire world, it is good to see a monument for it. When I visited there on king's day eve, I could see 10-20 guys wearing uniform colored t-shirts and spending time.

This is by the canal and was covered in flowers. Very thought provoking. Worth a visit. Close to Dam Square and Ann Franks House

Next to the Anne Frank house, many walk past on their way to line up to the famous house. There are always flowers at this monument in sober memorial to not only the second world war but also the present and the marginalisation of the gay, lesbian and transgender community in many parts of the world.

As what I am aware is the only gay monument in the world (could be wrong, if so, I stand corrected), the Homomonument is definitely worth a visit and, if you're in Amsterdam anyway, why not?! Just 3 minutes from the Anne Frank Museum (another must-see), the Homomonument is right on the canal in a quiet, pleasant location.
