I folllowed TripAdvisor's recommendations to this restaurant, tucked away in Jordaan. I've eaten Afghani cuisine before but not for a long time, so wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised, not least because there's no menu - you opt either for a full meal or main only and pay a set amount + beverages. Food was absolutely delicious and there was more than enough of it. The only thing that stops my review from being 5/5 is the speed of service. The waitress was polite and friendly but we had to wait a long time to be brought menus and there was a gap between courses which could have been shorter. But this is a minor complaint in what was, all in all, a delicious, good value, unusual meal.

Having admitted that Amsterdam (and particularly the Jordan) is ridicoulsy expensive, paying 45€ for an "OK" menu is a bit too much. We were informed that there was a fix menu, but not about its price (alright, that was our fault). The credit card was not working so we had to pay cash. The restaurant would be better if the price was 30€ each. Be patient, they take a long time to serve.

the restaurant is located in the nice area of Jordaan. The restaurant is small and nice designed with an open kitchen. There is a fixed menu and all dishes were delicious!! We ate in lots and lots of restaurants but this one is honoring the food and the ingredints its made of. The food was not spicy at all!! The service by a beautiful young Afgahn lady was excellent!!

We discovered this small restaurant during walking in the Jordaan area, in a tiny and cosy street.
The restaurant is not big (around 25 seats I would say) so you feel comfortable.
The original side of this restaurant is that they do not have a menu, you just have to choose between the main meals or the surprise one ! We ordered the surprise one, and in fact it was a real surprise :) We did not know what to expect from Afghan food, it was absolutly perfect to discover it. We get several small dishes. Food was cooked from fresh vegetables, and really home-made and instantly prepared. It was not really hot, but spicy and very tasty.
Service is very good and they explain well the different dishes.
Since several small plates are brought at different moments it can take some time, so do not come here if you are in a hurry or with an annoying person :) By the way, they have several books available about Afghanistan so you can read them and look at the beautiful pictures during two dishes.

Don't expect to find a big menu or elegant waiters in this small restaurant. In fact don't expect to find a menu at all: the food is selected by the restaurant itself according to daily market best's, and I can tell none of the several times I went there I have been disappointed. A small group of Afghanese young woman run the restaurant and offer you very good and honest Afghan food at reasonable prices. Additionally the short list of wines offered are excellent options. The walkabout to and from the restaurant shows you a beautiful and life rich neighborhood.
