“strange atmosphere”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 May 2013

We wanted a nice dinner and it was OK. The food was not bad but certainly not exceptional either. There were not many people dining when we were there so it felt like everyone in the restaurant was listening to every word we said.

“Great restaurant on the waterfront”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2013

We enjoyed a dinner here after a long trip from the US and a day's sightseeing. We stayed at the Moevenpick hotel next door so it was convenient. This is a gleaming new restaurant with very modern accent. Staff was very helpful and attentive. Seafood was fresh and prepared nicely and served elegantly. Their selection of wines was very good and moderately priced. The view of the harbor is great. I assume in the summer you can eat outdoors on the deck. Overall, a great restaurant.

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2013 via mobile

We wanted to eat here on a beautiful Sunday evening. We were staying just next door at the Moevenpick, and walked over just before 8 pm. Unfortunately they had already run out of all of their (already limited) main courses. It is a beautiful location; if they plan on staying in business perhaps they should consider better kitchen management.

“Great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2013

Although second to Eye, Zouthaven offers you a perfect view on the IJ waterfront. The restaurant has improved a lot this year on quality of food and service. Best to combine with a concert in Muziekgebouw or Bimhuis.

“magnificent view of the old port of Amsterdam -great experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2013

The view of the old port is just stunning, one of the best places in Amsterdam to view the action on the Y-river, behind the Central Station. The building is another spectacular addition to the expanding sky-line on the banks of the river and houses the new centre for modern and experimental music; Muziekgebouw aan het IJ/Bim Huis.

In summer the terrace is a must-see where tourists, businessmen and locals come to celebrate the spectacular sundowns, accompanied by gulls and passing ships.

We arrived at sundown on a friday night without any reservation and luckily got a table near the window instantly, thanks to a friendly waiter. Since we had to attend a concert in the hall upstairs we asked the waiter if the special concert-menu would be wise to choose. The friendly girl confirmed and took our order. When the first dish arrived it turned out to be the catch-of-the-day as a main course. So no full 3 course menu but only the main. The waiter had clearly not fully understood our order. Head in the sky or something.

Anyway, the local fish -harder- was delicious as were the accompanying vegs, pasta and white wine. Bread came a bit late, at the end of the our main, good coffee followed. All in all we witnessed a busy restaurant in a modern trendy setting, great fresh food -with the accent on fish- and fast friendly service. The placing of tables and the perfect acoustics are another plus. Reasonably priced as well. The staff can be trained to be a little bit more attentive maybe but overall not a bad experience.
