The birthday trip for my wife's 45th was Amsterdam&Paris.
We went all out in Amsterdam and it was worth it.
Not only a great location, great room, great hotel but Great staff.

Always available for a question with the perfect answer. From the front desk to the doorman to the waitstaff. All were great.

But why Above & Beyond? Don't all First Class Hotels do this? Yes they do but when we checked in the man at the Lounge noticed that it was the week of my wife's 45th.

HE HAD A CAKE, small piece, SENT TO THE ROOM WITH A CANDLE. And on the plate they wrote in icing Happy Birthday. Not all, if any, hotels would do this.

The hotel cost a lot but just that one jester made it all worth while.

We stayed for only one night in a corner loft suite with 2 bathrooms. The entire hotel is gorgeous from design perspective.

We had dinner at the main restaurant and it was excellent. Breakfast was also great. Service was a little odd, sometimes you didn't know who your server was and they would forget things, but they got the job done.

Spa - mixed reviews here, mostly good. The actual services (once booked) were great and what a gorgeous spa! The front end staff of the spa were a little amateur however, two to three of them sitting there staring you down when you came to book or ask questions. The booking process was tedious as several of the services offered on their spa menu weren't available due to the therapist not being trained in them. Once you book, they need to call the therapist to see if she is available and then confirm back with you. However, I ended up very happy with the services I had, but the process of booking it was not the best.

Front desk was a bit inconsistent. Requested a late check out and had it confirmed (for a fee), the next morning had my husband call to reconfirm it and they knew nothing about it so we had to haggle about it and finally they agreed, but by then we had packed up and decided just to keep our money and leave on time.

So, some little glitches, but overall a visually stunning property and I would go back, just not with expectations of flawless service. The good far outweighed the bad though so that is why i gave this property a 5 out of 5. One of the most impressive architectural buildings I have had the pleasure of staying in. Service is not perfect, but it is delivered with good intentions which is half the battle.

Room Tip: The corner loft suite had two bathrooms which was nice.

End of April, I organized a trip for 6 couples of our close friends to Amsterdam and the Keukenhof and after enjoying our stay in the Conservatorium last summer we decided to go back. The facilities are fabulous, the rooms very well equipped and maintained, the breakfast is gorgeous, the dinner excellent and the staff very helpful. Not everything went always perfect but the staff was very attentive and send courtesies to make up wherever we complained. The hotel’s host Eitan Sela was outstanding with his special service. This included group dinner and afternoon tea arrangements, booking a professional and interesting guide and a private boat trip on the canals. Eitan’s outgoing personality and attentive taking care of our needs made the stay in the Conservatorium very special and memorable. We definitely will return to the Conservatorium.

Room Tip: Ask for street-view rooms rather court-view ones

I just stayed for 6 weeks in the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam. The old music conservatorium has been transformed into a 5 star luxury hotel with all the amenities you can imagine. The architect was able to save the existing exterior and did wonders with the new interior, a giant glass covered lobby that also holds a brasserie, a large sitting area and in the center surrounded by trees, one floor down a state of the art exercise, pool, sauna and massage therapy center.
What makes this hotel really stand out is the fact that it is a stone throw of three of the most exciting museums in the world. The critically acclaimed newly renovated RIJKSMUSEUM where many of the worlds best art is on display, the improved Van Gogh Museum reopened this
month and the brand new addition to the Stedelijk Museum one of the foremost Museums of Modern Art in Western Europe. All three within a few hundred yards of each other. For art lovers this high tech luxury hotel with great service and many guests services, puts you right into the center of it all.
All this, is also in walking distance of the famous Old Amsterdam Canal center.

Room Tip: In my experience the rooms on the side streets either left or right (where most rooms are located) a...

We stayed for two days. The staff is extremely friendly. There is house keeping twice a day. The rooms are special. Each one is different. We had one which goes over two floors and has two bathrooms. They are bigger but I had the impression they are a bit louder as well than the smaller ones due to the huge window. We could here the tram ringing. Not all rooms have a bath tub. If you are keen about one you should ask. All materials/furniture are high end products. All rooms are very new and modern. The SPA is decent. Just in front of the Hotel is the van Gogh Museum, 5 minutes walk is the "reichsmuseum", a little park and some other museums.

I stayed for one night in this vey modern, well situated designer hotel and must say - it was fantastic. The rooms are equipted with state of the art technology whilst the architecture is left native. This contrast is reflected not only in the rooms but in the entire surroundings. A lovely place to stay. Good breakfast and very freindly service. Make sure you get one of the attic rooms

The architecture is an incredible mix of the new in the old. Very well done. There was minor flooding which is not a big deal, but the staff were less than hospitable and not particularly helpful. The spa is beautiful and I had a wonderful massage with aromatic oils which was fantastic. However, the service staff should visit the Oberoi to learn how it's done. Even by Dutch standards I would say the service was lacking.
