“Don't believe the gossips about the hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2014

I was really afraid to stay there after reading a vast number of the reviews about mice, etc. But I have to admit the hotel overperformed itself in my eyes.
Firstly, I wrote them an e-mail telling I gonna come really late in the night of the check-in and received the answer in half an hour that it is completely OK.
We came there for a one-night stay during our eurotrip. I already knew that this will be a hostel-type apartment in a really old house, so I was ready for everything :)).
Actually the hotel was clean, beds were well-made, receptionist was really nice. Yes, the stairs are really steep, so I wouldn't recommend the hotel for the elderly people, but for us it was OK. We got the room at the third floor, small (like promised, as soon as it is an old house, I was not expecting 3 m ceiling), with two beds. Furniture was not new, but well-repaired and clean. Hotel was a good value for the money.
Oh, btw, receptionist was so kind that nevertheless they had no luggage room, he asked to put our bad under the reception desk to look after it).

Room Tip: Choose a room at the 2-d or 3-d floor, not the one facing the street.

The only good thing was its location. The room was dated and dirty the staff were rude except the Asian lady who was very nice. The people in the next room spent ALL night scream at each other and reception didn't do a thing. Avoid this place,

Stayed here for 4 nights. Excellent location. Rooms old but relatively clean. Room door handle fell out which created much laughter. Shower door didn’t have a lock but place felt safe enough. Good breakfast options. Staff efficient and friendly. Overall, relatively inexpensive for Amsterdam and good value for money.

This is not a fancy hotel, but you can't beat the location, if you are traveling by train. It's an easy walk from the train station and right across from the famous Red Light District. Bicycle rental shops and buses are all nearby. You won't want to spend much time in your room, but the abundance of restaurants and attractions in the area are fantastic. Basically this is one step above a hostel, perfect for those who want a little privacy and quiet for a bargain price.

Room Tip: If you are spending a few days here, it's worth getting a private bath, rather than sharing a ba...

Noisy, filthy, cold, unfriendly, and not that cheap. Bathrooms were covered in puke for 2 days, without any staff bothering to clean. The whole floor shakes whenever someone walks in the corridor. Small, drl and dirty rooms.
One of the worst hostels I've ever been.

we nearly didn't book this hotel because of the reviews .. so glad we ignored them.we had the 5 bed room all new beds and bedding basic chairs and table..1 wardrobe signed by previous guests lol roomed cleaned every day fresh bedding and towels even toiletries supplied.. staff fantastic offloaded luggage before check in no problem no hanging about.. also can leave luggage at hotel on departure day until needed.. breakfast basic but filling in downstairs restaurant also any other meals eaten in the restaurant are subject to 25% off for hotel guests..we ate there a few times staff great friendly and efficient..YES stairs are steep but its the same in most hotels ..cost was fantastic value its a two star but deserves a 3 star we were a group of 4 people ages 28 to 63 and all enjoyed our time there we are definatly going back..the location is the best in Amsterdam 5 min walk from central station and 5 mins from dam square,,the place is surrounded by water hence the occasional rodent which we sadly didn't see lol yess décor poor but hey we went to see Amsterdam not admire wallpaper and wardrobes and cracked tiles also we went expecting a 2 star priced hotel as basic not like a boutique hotel room at 3 times the price of this hotel...roll on april lol

Room Tip: the lower the better lol

This place is worse than a hostel, cold, damp, dirty, downright dangerous... It is by far and a way the worst place I've even stayed, in terms of cost, condition, cleanliness... God it's just terrible, I'm shocked after visiting Amsterdam again recently that this place is even still allowed to be open for business.

Stay away, avoid at all costs, it's one small step up from sleeping rough it that bad, so either stay elsewhere of sleep in a shop doorway... This place is a dive!

Be sure to look at my pics attached to this review to see for yourself....
