“Don't go!”
Reviewed 5 November 2012

I always think very carefully before writing a critical review as I know that it could impact on trade so I feel that I have an obligation to be very careful. That said this was one of the worst meals that I have ever had.

I had a Chicken Tikka, it consisted of a very small amount of very over-cooked dry chicken, it didn't come with the usual salad or raita. I don't know how long it had been cooked but my feeling was that it had been microwaved.

The other dish we had was a Chicken Tikka Massala again it was an extremely small portion and whilst the sauce was pleasantly fruity the chicken was again very tough.

These dishes were 15 euros each and quite frankly weren't worth it.

Poppadoms were served with bottled chilli sauce and raita again. The raita was inedible.

On a positive note the waiter was lovely, he was very polite and pleasant.

“A disappointing rip-off”
Reviewed 8 February 2012

Having seen this Indian restaurant in Harlemmerstraat, we were enticed inside by the menu in the window. The restaurant is fairly stark, with a few faded Indian-themed items adding scattered here and there, we were placed at a table near the doorway with a puddle of water underfoot, in spite of no other table being occupied. A surly waiter took our food and drinks order, refusing to bring glasses of tap- water to accompany the wine and beers, saying that the restaurant would only provide bottled water. After protests, eventually who glasses of tap water were brought somewhat gracelessless to our table. The starters of plates of onion badje and samoosas arrived luke warm. Two of our party asked for extra heat in their main courses (a lamb biriyani and a vegetarian potato dish), which arrived rather bland. The butter chicken ordered by the third was adquate but nothing out of the ordinary, and the mild lamb curry was fiery hot. Eventually the waiter must have realised that we were annoyed, because he sat at another table in the empty restaurant to have his dinner, while the owner was delegated to serve us. At leat the owner was cheerful, but in no way did it make up for the poor food and lack-lustre service. We declined coffee and desserts, having had enough.
It is unfortunate that the menu suggests a far more exciting experience than the restaurant can deliver.

Two doors down is another Indian restaurant. It's quite clear to me which one I'll eat at next time!
