Excellent location and host with a place which is clean and simple with everything you need, breakfast freshly cooked and in a very relaxed atmosphere. All the good reviews are correct and it's very easy to find by bus from Central station and only takes 15 to 20 mins walk into the centre. The host will give you all the information you require on where to eat or where to visit. I would have easily given this place a 5 star but thought people who had difficulty in climbing stairs may struggle but they do inform you of this before booking. It was not a problem for us but when we hopefully get to 65 it maybe. Would I stay there again yes I hope so.

This Inn offers a great place to stay while in Amsterdam, very modern, clean and in a nice peaceful location. the bed was so comfy and the room was the perfect size and had a balcony. its only 10 mins walk to the center along the canals,
there are some top restaurant near by ( I would recommend the one just over the bridge, it does not look like much from outside but its busy at night and the food was fantastic ) and a few nice local dutch bars,
Christian cant do enough to help and make your stay as enjoyable as possible, also the breakfast is the best i have had in any place i have stayed over the years, you have a good choice which changes daily, you also get a Real cup of coffee each morning.
when we go back to Holland this is where we will be staying

Room Tip: the first room floor has a balcony which is great if you want a nice night in.

We stayed here for 3 nights in the first floor room overlooking the canal. The room was very modern, clean and had a beautiful view. The TownHouse Inn is slightly off the beaten track (but only 2 stops from Amsterdam Central Station by bus or a 15 minute walk) making it ideal for those wanting a more peaceful/relaxing stay. Christian, both owner and host, is simply superb. Each morning he made us a wonderful breakfast (try his scrambled eggs!) and advised us where to go and what not to miss. The rooms and Inn are accessed via codes provided to you by email and these are changed regularly for added security.

I've stayed in a lot of good quality hotels but this has to be one of the best.

Well done Christian!

We stayed here for 4 nights in a first floor room at the back. The bed was very comfortable, the place was spotlessly clean, the shower room excellent, and we had very good breakfasts downstairs. Christian did everything to make our stay comfortable and as fruitful as possible. His first question every morning was whether we had a good day the day before and what our plans were for that day. And, of course, what did we want for breakfast!
The location was excellent with lots of good restaurants nearby - full of local people. We'd particularly recommend Hemelse Modder, a few minutes walk away. The central station is 10-15 minutes walk or the 22 bus, virtually door to door. Plantage and the zoo are very close, as well as the Resistance museum and the Museum Quarter is a lovely walk along the Herengracht.

We decided to take a short post Christmas break and avoid the large chain hotels. We lucked across The Townhouse Inn by chance and it turned out to be an incredible find!

Christian was the perfect host from the first email confirming the booking to the last handshake goodbye. We arrived late but he had already given us the codes to get into the house and our room. We got the train from Schipol to the Central Station then a cab from there although we needn't have as it's less than 15 mins walk or a couple of minutes on the very efficient buses!

The room was amazing, modern furniture and fittings, solid but not noisy, wooden floors and a lovely welcome note from Christian.

The next morning we went to breakfast and Christian was there with a big smile and loads of advice for getting around the city and where to go as well as what to see.

Breakfast was brilliant and his scrambled eggs are to die for! Very well cooked and wonderfully seasoned.

There are restaurants and bars close by, a micro brewery within 15 mins walk and close to everything you need in the city.

Getting to and from the Townhouse is easy, either the 22 or 48 bus from just across the main road or a slightly longer walk left along the main road past the IJTunnel you then have a choice of 5 buses that run every 2 or 3 mins to the central station. From there you can get trams all over the city or walk down to Dam Square, The Canals or the Red Light District.

Enjoy, it really is worth it!

A really great place to stay. Very clean and comfortable rooms with everything you need. Breakfast really tasty, fresh and plenty of choice. Christian and colleague Paulo very welcoming, friendly and helpful for tips etc. Walkable from Central Station, good area to stay in. Some lovely restaurants opposite over the canal plus a great little bar just down the road for a quiet drink or coffee! Had superb meal at Koffie Huis Van Den Volksbond.

Room Tip: Our room looked over the canal as was really lovely. Super view.

We stayed for the last 2 nights of September and echo all the previous good reviews - stunning bedrooms, great breakfasts, good location and Christian is a perfect host - we particularly liked his help and advice in finding places to go/things to do that perhaps you don't always find in the commercial guides. The area is nice and quiet but fairly central and there are a couple of good local restaurants and several nearby bars.
