The dining room at Tunes is really beautiful with an open kitchen and space for a 3 piece jazz band. I dont actually like live music while I eat, especially jazz but in this environment (a hotel and restaurants built in an old bank and music school on Kings Day) I can be flexible. The staff were friendly, knowledgable and their service was excellent The food was all presented at a very high standard, even though one or two things weren't to my taste because of ingredients I was still able to very much enjoy the brunch and appreciate the top quality ingredients and menu. I had the lobster roll - a sausage made from lobster! who knew - and look forward to having the oxtail burger next time. For 55 euro for 5 courses including champagne (Roederer) tea and or coffee it was worth it.

All restaurant reservations were booked ahead of arrival. Day trips and local suggestions for walks and gardens were excellent. The room was great, although not all guest rooms have windows that open to outdoors. The staff was amazing. Gin and Tonic Menu is a must try! Amazing! Tunes Restaurant is outstanding and should be a go to fine dining destination if you stay here or visit Amsterdam.

On our return from a morning shopping trip we changed trams adjacent to the Conservatorium hotel and decided to see if we could have a late lunch in the Tunes restaurant. Fortunately they accommodated is as we set to an excellent 5 course lunch. Not all spur of the moment restaurant ventures are successful, but this one was excellent. From the attentiveness of the staff to the quality of the good. Egg Benedict was fantastic followed by a variety of equally good quality dishes. We both chose Ox tail burgers, first time for this item and have to say we are both impressed.
The ambiance was great although I would imagine that when the restraunt is full the close proximity if the tables may well present a real problem especially if planning an intimate evening meal out. We will be trying an evening meal and will report on the outcome.

The location is perfect, near all the big Amsterdam museums, and in a beautifully renovated historic building.

The Tunes bar design is neatly done but doesn't measure up to the restaurant design. The cocktails are great, we drunk G&T's. But for Amsterdam standards overpriced. The same cocktails go for 10 euro less in other bars.

Our snack was a disaster. We had the beef tataki (20 euro for small amount beef). The dish came right out of the fridge. So the meat was that cold that it lost all taste. Could have been tuna steak. We really couldn't taste the difference. The papaya salade, same story: no taste at all.

The hotel building is impressive, the restaurant design is suburb. But I would avoid the tunes bar. And if you do go, stick to the drinks and bring your credit card ; )

A really nice establishment with a friendly staff. The sushi was also good, but the deserts were average. We might come back on our next visit.
