We stayed at the Singel apartments, great location, big comfortable room with the best beds of our whole trip. every facility you could possably need. Very good breakfasts but they could start them a little bit earlier, say 8:30.
Ken & Vlad were the most helpfull hosts, we will be back.

Visited this great B&B with friends and again all decided that it must be the best in Amsterdam. Friendly greeting from Ken - who even helped us with cases up to the attic "suite" It is so nice to stay somewhere which is not just a bedroom. Rooms very clean and all facilities of a high standard.
We and our friends both had a mini suite which meant that we were able to sit together for chats and relaxing between sight seeing. In addition the common areas also provided a place to relax. The breakfast is one of the best ever - lots of fresh fruit lovely bread and freshly made pancakes, and to be able to make a cup of tea at any time is a great bonus.
Its location is on a quiet but stylish shopping area but only minutes from the bustle of Dam Square. Why would you stay anywhere else? we will be back

I traveled with a party of four to Europe and Maes B&B was our first stop. I cannot begin to tell you what a wonderful time we had at Ken and Vlad's B&B. The house, rooms, and bathroom were very clean and neatly presented. Our breakfasts exceeded expectations offering a variety of food for all dietary needs. I especially enjoyed Vlad's company in the morning! He made a point to help us figure out what to see and do in his city and how we can get there. Vlad is very knowledgable and helpful and his staff is very friendly! The house offered free WiFi as well and a house computer in case you forgot your laptop! We would have liked to see Ken more, but assumed he was tending to the other house up the road. I highly recommend this house to anyone planning a trip to Amsterdam. You will not be disappointed.

Ken and Vlad are very friendly and helpful. The B&B is very clean and surprisingly spacious. We stayed on the 3rd floor of the 26 Herenstraat location. We were very impressed with that room's modern, deep, full-sized bathtub and separate shower. The water was hot and the water pressure was really good (not always the case when traveling in Europe). The large sitting room overlooked a quaint street with shops and restaurants. The breakfasts are very healthy and plentiful. They are served from 9-11 AM. What's nice is that if you need to get up early for a day trip (and miss the breakfast serving), you can go into the kitchen and help yourself to something before you go.

We loved the location. It's in the western canal area, bordering on the Jordaan. The Anne Frank house is a 10 minute walk away in the Jordaan direction (turn right leaving the B&B - if at 26 Herenstraat - and proceed to the 2nd canal (the Prinsengracht) then turn left and walk a few blocks towards the WesterKerk (Western Church) which is just beyond the Anne Frank House. Note: right after you turn left on Prinsengracht, there is a pancake house that is awesome. The walk on the Prinsengracht is a fun, relaxing experience by itself. A 12 minute walk to the Northeast brings you to Centraal Station where you have access to all the trains and tram lines.

Notes: The signal strength on the free WiFi was excellent. There are plenty of travel books (Rick Steve's, Lonely Planet etc) for you to use while there along with current local magazine/guides with street maps. Vlad and Ken will be happy to make restaurant recommendations for you.

The other reviews say it all. Great location, gracious hosts in Vald, clean, quiet, and comfortable. Great breakfast where Vlad stops in with great recommendations. I always try to stay in B&B because the guests and owners make my vacation better. Maes is one of the best

Room Tip: The main house has steep stairs that get a little steeper after a few beers.

Vlad made us very welcome at his Canal House.
The location is superb and the b&b is beautifully furnished with a gorgeous lounge and well equipped kitchen.
Breakfast is served from a very sensible 9am, and it's mostly continental with freshly cooked pancakes. Lots of fruit, organic yoghurts, sweet treats, cereals and fresh breads, tea, coffee and juice.
Thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

Room Tip: We were in the room above the common kitchen. It faced the rear courtyard and had a large sliding do...
