We stayed 2 nights in a b&b room prior to our bike & barge tour & then 5 nights in a 1 bedroom apartment - both in the same building facing the singel canal. Both were excellent. The b&b room was comfortable with a sumptuous breakfast provided by the owner. You also get access to a communal kitchen & comfortable lounge area. Our apartment was on the 2nd floor & was spacious with modern facilities while retaining the character of the building. The owners obviously take great pride in the building & everything is kept in tip top shape. The apartment has a kitchen & lounge overlooking the singel canal. The building's location is ideal - a quiet spot yet close to central - approx 10 minute walk. Restaurants & cafés are closely. We visited the markets plus restaurants & cafe recommended by Vlad & all were excellent. The markets held on sat were great as we bought food to self cater - wonderful cheeses, slices of quiche, white asparagus to cook up (make sure you read up on how to cook white asp on the net before trying it). The apartment is 10 mins walk to Dam Square & the major shopping area. Highly recommended provided you can get up & down steep stairs. They are everywhere in Amsterdam including the b&b and apartment. Pack light & don't bring large heavy suitcases as you won't be able to get them up & down the stairs. Also, some train stations don't have lifts so you may have to carry your bags to get down to the platform, etc. We travelled to Europe for 6 weeks from Australia & had carry on luggage only for the trip out. We had previously travelled with huge heavy bags however light is definitely easier!

This was the ninth time we've stayed at the WONDERFUL Maes B & B. The owners and staff (Ken, Vlad and Milo) are WONDERFUL. Service is first class. The location is convenient to everything. The rooms are very clean and very comfortable. Why would one stay anywhere else?

Room Tip: In the Yellow Suite at the main house, our bathtub was big enough to be a swimming pool and the stee...

I've stayed here 4 times which should indicate my satisfaction at the room, welcome and assistance given by our hosts. Remarkably quiet for so central a location. Warm and hospitable - we shall return again.

We stayed for a long weekend at Maes B&B. Everything is excellent, location, spacious rooms, and of course the hospitality of the owners.
Thanks Vlad for all your tips and the nice breakfast.
Well done, keep the good work.

Myself, my boyfriend and my parents visited Maes B&B almost 2 years ago now. We received faultless hospitality and service, the breakfast was beautiful and our rooms were some of the nicest rooms we have stayed in. Thank you

We arrived 11am and Milo escorted us to the Singel address, he offered to carry our case and it was only 2 minute walk. We were then given a tour of the lounge, kitchens and our room. All refurbished to a high standard. Vlad kindly offered coffee and breakfast as he was aware we had a 7.30 flight. During "brunch" Vlad informed us of places to have dinner and details of the walking tour of Amsterdam @ 1pm. Their hospitality was very impressive. The house at Singel canal is spectacular and in a great location. We stayed 3 nights and walked everywhere. Dam Square, 10 mins, Anne Frank house and Jordaan area 5 mins, Leidesplein and museums 20 mins.

Breakfast consisted fresh fruit, pastries, cheese, ham, variety of breads, cakes and great coffee. Served at a communal breakfast table. Vlad and his staff always talkative with suggestions.

Our room was in the basement, it was warm, spacious and had a great shower.

This establishment is the best b&b we have experienced. Book early as Rick Steve's has given Maes B&B an excellent report.
