We stayed at this B&B in Amsterdam for three nights and it was a delightful place to stay. It is located in a very convenient quiet location--close to the Dam, Anne Frank House, many restaurants and the tram line. We stayed in the red (tulip) room which was on the top floor but worth the climb up the typical steep Dutch stairs. It is right on the scenic Herengracht Canal which provided interesting views of the boats going up and down the canal. The owner Carlos is a kick. He provides not only a very generous and tasty breakfast in the morning but also lots of humorous stories as well. He is full of useful information on tours, restaurants and things going on around town. We would recommend this B&B to anyone staying in Amsterdam.

Carlos makes Sunhead absolutely worthwhile -- his stories, tips, and opinions over breakfast were one of the highlights of the trip.

We stayed in the Jasmine room, which is apparently new. It has a lovely view out onto the canal, and a big basin sink in the main room, as opposed to in the washroom.

The combo of no AC, a single heavy duvet, and recent warm weather made sleeping a little tough some nights, but that's a minor complaint.

Firstly the location was perfect! Sunhead is only a few minutes walk from the Anne Frank House and Dam Square, so is ideally located for all the main visitor attractions, either walking or by tram. We arrived early in the morning, left our luggage and went about our day. When we did see our room, it was just perfect. We stayed in the Red Tulip Room which had everything we needed - a shower & bath, toiletries (just in case), a Nespresso machine, kettle, hairdryer, iron & ironing board. The room had both a table/chairs and sofa and a most comfortable bed. The best part of the room was the view. A tree lined canal! Everything on the website is as described and the owner 'Carlos' was the perfect host. He was able to answer all our questions and helped to book tickets online when needed. His breakfasts were only fantastic! Fresh produce only. Smoothies & fresh orange as well as bread/cheese and a cooked breakfast - so much that you didn't need to eat any lunch (but we did anyway!). The stairs to the rooms are steep, but this is typical for the building we choose and we were aware before we arrived. We did much in the few days we stayed, a canal trip & world war 2 walk - both booked at the Boathouse. If interested, try and visit the Anne Frank house before doing the WW2 walk, it helps with the context of the walk. We visited the windmills at Sanse Schrans and hired bikes there - we weren't so brave to hire them in Amsterdam - this visit was actually a highlight. Then we did the usual trips around the city, red light area, museums etc. A wonderful restaurant nearby called Envy was a real treat. Coming back every evening to Sunhead, was the icing on the cake of a most wonderful tip.

Sunhead is one of my favourite places I have ever stayed! We stayed in the Red Tulip Room at the top, with amazing views over one of the many canals. The room was great with a coffee machine, fridge and a really useful guide of where to eat and drink written by Carlos, the owner. Breakfast each morning consisted of fresh smoothies, bread, cheese, ham, eggs and lots of jams as well as a good strong coffee to set you up for the day. As there aren't lots of guests the place feels very friendly relaxed and personable. The location was great and handy for us to come and go as we pleased.

It was our first trip to Amsterdam and we both loved it. Our b&b definitely played a part in it so thank you Carlos and we hope to come back soon!

We stayed for 4 nights in April over the Easter w/e. The room was lovely, with amazing canal views. It's a lovely area with good shops bars & restaurants nearby & away from the tacky areas, though accessible for all the places you'd want to go to. Carlos is a natural host, is accomodating & helpful & funny. His partner offered to take us out on his boat after the boat trip we planned to go on was booked up. This was really kind & a good example of what good, generous hosts they are. It was a lovely experience for us, far better than any other boat trip we could have gone on & we really loved Amsterdam & will deffinately be back & stay here again. I'm not easily pleased so this is high praise indeed!!!!

Having stayed in Amsterdam on five occasions previous i picked this hotel for its charm and position as its close enough to the battle that rages in the tourist spots of dam square and the red light district both a ten minute walk .. but set in the sanctuary of a beautiful trendy canal area that is full of quality Dutch bars and restaurants and cafes and five minutes from Ann franks house and brisk 20 minute walk to the up market nightlife of the Leidseplein
The Sunhead is a charming traditional canal house and both hosts are very welcoming ! the only problem is after a day and night of drinking you need to be roped together and have the skill of a blind mountain goat to guide your self up the traditional stairs to the top floor a feat in its self but when or if you arrive the bedroom and bed will give you the best nights sleep you have ever had !
Each morning you are greeted by the witty, charming Carlos with his little funny antidotes on Dutch local council politics and life in general . Carlos breakfasts are worth the stay alone .
If your looking for a place to stay the gives you that home from home feeling that will want to make you come back to this beautiful B/B set in one of the worlds best cities .. stop looking and book it before its to late !!
