Great location. Room was clean and ready on arrival. Overlooking the main road, there was a little noise from traffic but not too disruptive. Breakfast was chaotic given the small breakfast room. Big mix-up over the room rate when we came to check out - this spoiled our stay.

Room Tip: Avoid basement rooms.

Well located, everything was plain and clean, service was nice if not really good. One huge problem: you may never open a window, they are sealed, so avoid the hotel if you`re claustrophobic. Service is ok, the solve things but don`t wait a smile out of them, just efficiency. Never had breakfast there because the breakfast area was in some kind of basement.

Room Tip: Many rooms looking to very small inside patios, made me feel a little bit uncomfortable. Check the a...

Recently fitted out and thoughtfully done. Everything worked including the very quiet air conditioning. We were in the basement where the windows overlook the small integral outdoor area (no access) so there was no noise invasion at all. Kettle very welcome and BBC on the TV too. Fresh towels daily and tea/coffee top-up. Situation is perfect for access to the rest of Amsterdam; just a short stroll to the trams, canals etc. and virtually next door for bike hire. In the foyer search through the offers for discounts to attractions and take a free map. Note that the travel pass is valid for all means of public transport - research the Amsterdam travel website before going; the Park and Ride is a MUST if you're driving, we parked at the Olympic Stadium for 8e/day including transport from and to for 5 people - again check out the P & R Amsterdam website. When collecting your vehicle you'll need your tram ticket as well as your parking ticket.
Hotel - I'd definitely return.

Room Tip: Basement is not a dungeon with very quiet rooms but with just a small section of slightly dodgy stai...

3 nights on October 2012. Very easy to come from centralstation with tram 1. You only havto know that the nearest tram stop a head of Marriott hotel has veen closed. You better hopp of on Overtoom stop and walk couple of hundred metres to the hotel. The rooms are clean and the bathroom is ok. Very quiet rooms no street noise what so ever. Of course you hear sonething from other rooms. It is easy to walk to the city centre. Lot of restaurants and shops on a way to royal palace.
Easy to walk to museum district. Hotel was ok. Good choice for budget traveller who just wants to sleep well near city sights. We did not try the breakfast.

Stayed for 4 nights in this hotel, we got the 197 bus from Schipol, no hassle and 5 mins walk to hotel. The room was ready on our arrival and we checked in early. Our room was large, modern, clean The fixtures and fittings are all new. No frills in the room apart from the kettle and tea/coffee (replenished every day) no fridge. The bed was very very comfortable, no problems sleeping. The bathroom was modern with a great shower and the hairdryer was powerful - not the usual puff of hot air. Shampoo, hand wash dispensers on wall. Our companions were not so lucky with the room allocated to them, it was very small. The Hotel is a few minutes walk from Leidsplein and we thought the location was ideal. There are a few supermarkets minutes away, and a very good Thai resturant a few meters away. We would def return to this hotel, but we would request a large room if available.

This is my 4th business trip in Amsterdam. I always found very difficult to find a nice, clean and affordable hotel there. I had stayed in Best western Leidesplein twice and Hotel Avenue but not really satisfied with their rooms. Finally this time I found Hotel Iron Horse which was beyond my expectations.

The room and bathroom were very clean. The size of the room was also reasonable. Because I arrived early, the front desk was kindly to offer me early check-in. They provided a kettle and tea in the room which was a big plus. The bed quality was great so I had very good sleep.

Leidesplein is my favorite area in Amsterdam and it is very close to all attractions. There is also an airport bus 197 just 5 mins walking distance from the hotel. If you take train from Schipol, you can also take tram no. 1 to take you the hotel. There are cafes and supermarket right next to the hotels so it is very convenient to buy some refreshments.

I will definitely stay at Hotel Iron again when I return next year. And thank you for the Chinese front desk agent (sorry I forgot her name) to let me check in early.

Nice enough hotel, recently renovated from a few older buildings. Near to Leidseplein, the museums, etc. Unfortunately we were given a basement room: totally underground (very steep stairs to get there), dark, stuffy, minimal aircon, pillar in the middle of the room and smelling a bit dank. So can only recommend if you make sure you get a room above ground...

Room Tip: Avoid the basement rooms
