Herengracht is a very uppmarket canal belt, with beauty. Houses and hotels reside here mostly. amazing classic amsterdam, the street runs on both sides "one way system", of the river and can be a bit confusing to find your way to the hotel or the right number.

If lost just look at the other side!!

I mean it feels like your some kind of lord straying the night at this canal belt. Very quiet at night time and a lovley place to go outside take a seat and breath in Amsterdam.

Another great street to walk on. Great architecture to admire as well as the beautiful canals. This is one of the three major canals in Amsterdam.

Staying in a houseboat on the canals is a great way to enjoy a holiday in Amsterdam. The Herengracht offers a great selection of shops and restaurants. Walk all the way down it and look at the shops on the side streets. It's sometimes nice to get away from the crowds and a walk here is perfect x

Just like all grand cities Amsterdam has its tree lined avenues. However unlike most cities they are wonderfully reflective canals awash with colour and images of the beautiful architecture. We were there in autumn, the trees were still leafy but the colour was starting to turn from green to golden. A walk along the canal during the day was for studying the buildings but at night the water and reflections changed it into a sparkling wonderland, romantic almost ethereal place.

This is an amazing area to wander through. Lots of people - if you are into people watching. There are so many different shops. You can eat just about anything you can think of. The buildings around are so interesting - very well preserved and maintained. We stayed at Sunhead of 1617 - a B&B located on the canal. A great place because we could go out and wander at all times. I would highly recommend strolling at night - a totally comfortable spot to be. Hoping to go back sometime.
