Reviewed 17 December 2012

Stayed for one night for a gig at the Ziggo Dome staff were friendly and the rooms were perfect, only thing is it has a rubbish bar, with rubbish selection of drinks, otherwise fantastic. Will definitely stay here again when i return to Amsterdam, very close to a metro station as well for easy access to city center.

I stayed here for a couple of nights from the 12th December - 14th December 2012.

The rooms are excellent value for money, very clean, beds are comfy, warm rooms, bathroom is great.

The only problem we found was it was difficult to get to. Was about a 10 minute walk to the nearest metro station which was a bit annoying. Especially when we first turned up, took about 2 hours to find the hotel?! Once you know where you're going though it's very easy.

Apart from that I'd recommend everyone to stay here especially if you are watching something at Ziggo Dome, that's the reason why we stayed here.. Only a few stops away!

From our arrival at the hotel we were greeted by staff who just didn't care or want to be there !!!!
One manager got upset when i dared to ask for a receipt for my bill. The rooms are tiny and you can hear all the noise from the other guests . They say you get what you pay for in life but unfortunately with this hotel (Even at seemingly low prices) not even close.
My advise spend the extra euros and get a proper hotel , this hotel is simply the worst hotel i have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: Book a different hotel

Stayed for three nights- They didn't clean the room once within the three nights. Rooms are just tiny and they really don't seem to care about the condition of the hotel. The place is like a prison with keycards to get in everywhere and even to use the lift. There are 4 lifts but the keycard only works in whatever lift you are allocated.

The breakfast was nice and the girl serving was really nice. The reception manager was rude and made confrontation about our 30mins late check out time saying "It wasn't good enough" - It was a late night and we only woke about 11:30 but he still wasn't amused. He cancelled our keycard at exactly 12am to get us out as quick as possible and we went through an awful routine of trying to get back into the room to collect our stuff.

I was on business for 6 weeks in Holland I stayed in 6 different Hotels and this was by far the worst. - Spend your money elsewhere.

Bastion is a typical budget hotel. The rooms are small but always kept clean. Fresh towels and linen everyday which is very good. The food is nice, breakfast buffet is also good. I only saw one computer located in the lobby which I think is considered as the business area. The best thing about the hotel is the service. The staff at the reception was very helpful. She took care of anything that we need. The staff at the restaurant are also very helpful. It is just quite far from the city center and around the hotel, there's not much to do. We stayed because of business but moved on to another "city center" hotel for the remaining of our stay.

Typical budget hotel but a really friendly helpful bunch, nothing too much trouble and even after the restaurant had closed a meal was rustled up, stayed here a few times and will do again, big car park and easy to get into the centre or the RAI exhibition centre.

Room Tip: Try and stay at the garage side rather than the railway as light sleepers might suffer...not this sn...

I stayed in this hotel several days during the last two months as I was working in the area. The only reason I kept going is the cheap price and it was 5 minutes from work. But don't expect much from this hotel. Rooms were not very clean (unless you pay for the Deluxe rooms) service is not great, beds are not comfortable, if you get a room facing the train, it is quiet noisy... On the good side, it is relatively cheap and about 5-10 minutes from the tram station, so access to Amsterdam city centre is convenient...

Room Tip: Ask for a room with odd number. Otherwise your room will give on the railway and it is quiet noisy...
