I just came back from a trip to Amsterdam!!
We were really lucky to win this hotel through priceline and it was a real bargain!
We arrived earlier than check in time (at 11,30am) and we were surprised to learn that we could have our room earlier!Staff was kind and pleasant. We had a great room on 6th floor with view to Leidseplein. Our bathroom was big with walk in shower.
After checking out, hotel staff stored our bags since we had an afternoon flight which was really convenient for us.
It was all i could ask for and i'm glad i stayed there.

Stayed 2 nights recently. Agree with all of the positive comments. One huge negative; the woefully narrow toilet wedged between a solid shower stall wall and the solid wall of the vanity. I stand 186cm and not overweight and I had difficulty using the toilet; imagine this- sitting with your thighs fused together. The stall for the toilet was narrower than a flight seat in economy! LOL. Never noticed it until much later in my stay and didn't want to pack everything up to change rooms. This alone could destroy an otherwise perfect stay, so be forewarned.

So if you get a room here, tell the front-desk clerk you "don't want one of those rooms with a narrow toilet". When you get to the room, inspect the bathroom immediately; if you see no bathtub but a nice (wide) walk-in shower stall instead, put the toilet seat cover down and see if you fit! If not, then call the front desk and ask for another room with a normal toilet.

Other than that, you can't do much better than this hotel for location and the up-to-date, clean and comfortable rooms. They could update the TVs from the old box type to the newer large flat-screens monitors. I've stayed at the Marriot next door and prefer their rooms for comfort (better beds, showers and yes- toilets). Being on the Leidesplein gives you really convenient options for eating (everything from Burger-King open til 3am, Macdonalds, or lots of great restaurants in every price range), Walk to Museums, flower market, etc. 1 tram to Central Station and Public transit to and from Schipol airport (4 Euros). Friendly Front Desk people know all this info so just ask them.

Good location and fab breakfast. However, room service dishes not removed for 48 hours, limescale on taps and shower head, dirty carpets, dowdy/gloomy atmosphere, tiny double room (more like a small single), misinformed on cost of hotel approved taxi (cost and extra 11 euros) and dirty carpets. Plus get a mortgage if you have anything out of the minibar!

I have stayed at the NH Amsterdam Centre on business trips 3 times, and twice have had very large rooms with a sofa for watching TV; one time it was a much smaller room with no couch. I love the clean, modern feel of this hotel - dark wood floors, simple furnishings, lovely modern bathroom. The bed is comfortable and they offer a choice of different pillows on request. The breakfast is also above average with a nice assortment of hot and cold dishes. A key card is necessary for the elevators, which adds to the feeling of security. I think it is much nicer than the Marriott next door.
Front desk service is adequate. One time, we had difficulty with them charging different rates for three of us all on the same corporate rate, although we eventually got it sorted out. This trip, I asked when checking in whether this rate included breakfast, and was told yes. Checking out the next morning, they tried to charge me for it, and when I raised the issue, they advised me the rate did not include breakfast but as I'd been misinformed, they waived the charge.
The location is convenient for travel by car, and an easy walk to most tourist sites. However, for leisure travel I prefer being closer to Centraal train station, which makes it so easy to travel to/from the airport; it would be a bit of a hike to walk to the NH from the train station with luggage.

Would recommend the Hotel. Although the room that we stayed in was overlooking the Road and we could hear the traffic and people outside all night long.Would suggest if you are a light sleeper to request a room at the back of the Hotel
Transport from the airport was excellent.. Right at the front of the airport look for Bus Stand B11. You want the 197 Bus[ they run every 15 mins] which stops right across from the Hotel. The stop you request is 'Leidersplein' . It was 4 Euros per person each way which is excellent value compared to a taxi [ 40 euros]. You know you are there with the illuminated sign inside the bus which tells you which bus stop you are at. It takes about 25 minutes.

Stayed for 6 nights during a business conference. Rooms were larger than the usual European Hotel. Clean and adequate bathroom beds were comfortable. The heating system was a mystery to adjust so we just turned it off opened the balcony door a bit. Since we overlooked the back of the Marriott on a side street, noise was not an issue. My only problem is that all hotels have gone to duvets for the top covering and in most cases they are way too warm. So I wind up sleeping on top of them and covering with a light blanket which this hotel had. Excellent breakfast which was included for my husband who was attending a conference. It was €19 for me. Pricey. Lots of restaurants in Leinsplein Sq just across the street. Many South American and Asian places. Very few Dutch restaurants anywhere in the Central part of the City. There are still good Indonesian restaurants but in the immediate area. We enjoyed our stay. Since the conference organizers were paying I have no idea about price, but would guess not cheap. Amsterdam is expensive. Had a fitness center but it was 12.50/visit. Ridiculous. There was one computer and it could be used with a voucher from the front desk which gave one 15 minutes free. The desk would issue several at a time but it timed out. The computer rate was .35/minute.

Book this hotel with Priceline for $75 USD a night including taxes & fees. No complants. Clean, great location, very roomy and view. The elevator required your room key so you had a feeling of safety. Nice Bathroom. Arrived by train and took tram to hotel. There is a tram line that stops in front of the hotel and several lines that stop just across the canal. Casino and Hard Rock Cafe across the canal & many good restauants on the street behind the hotel.

I could walk to most museums and the Concertgebouw but also used the tram which was quick and easy. Amsterdam was very friendly & tram drivers are very helpful. You can pay on board and ask for information.

Also, ask for free internet passes at the front desk. They gave me all I needed but you must us in the lobby. There is also a lobby PC & Printer - also free with passes from front desk. I took a laptop but used the lobby PC so I could print boarding passes.
