A very nice intimate property, in a great location with a terriffic staff. Perfect location to explore the city whether you are heading toward the Anne Frank House or DePijp. We stayed in the Shakespeare Suite because it was a short flight up and seemed to suite our tastes. The room was very nice and what you would expect in a Botique hotel, character and charm. From the included minibar to the wine served in the room and the excellent breakfast, this was a very relaxing way to prep for our day. We watched a movie in the room one night and spent time getting to know the small staff. They are all very different, but have unique stories. They really put ther hearts into servicing the guests and no request was ignored. They add to the experience.

Room Tip: No elevator so be sure you want the top floor if you choose it. The Shakespeare room one flight up...

We stayed at the 7-1-7 for two nights in the Tolkien suite. On arrival, we were greeted as honoured guests and offered tea, biscuits and small cakes. The room was beautiful and immaculately clean, as was the bathroom and toilet. Breakfasts were freshly prepared and delicious, although another guest whom we overheard apparently felt that a broader range of foods should have been available. Room service was prompt, efficient, friendly but unobtrusive. Maybe I'm too used to British and American hotels, but I would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room, particularly for early morning refreshment - but with the level of service available, it wasn't really a problem, All in all, a most enjoyable stay in a lovely hotel. Thank you!

We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel 717 where the staff were all very helpful, the breakfasts were good and the room exceptionally comfortable. Really couldn't fault it and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Amsterdam was also a great city to wander around and visit.

We stayed there 2 nights in january 2010. What a good surprise. This is the definition of luxury: small hotel, cosy, high quality, good taste and confort. I have nothing else to say. There is a magic atmostphere with the fireplace. The location is perfect as well. The staff perfect.
We loved it and more than that...

Sensational hotel. We stayed in Joseph Liszt room, which said it had view of canal. Was actually at street level, so not really a canal view, but didn't make any difference to ambience.
Room was spacious, although ceilings on low side, and bed was magnificent. Pillows a bit on soft side.
Service was impeccable. Breakfast served in main dining room, with any desire catered for. Afternoon tea also provided, and was a true tea ceremony. Gorgeous crockery, biscuit and chocolate selection, gourmet tea selection, truly divine.
Newspapers in various languages. No noise from street, and lovely courtyard area as well if you wanted to sit outside after breakfast.
Location was sensational. We walked from train station with our luggage in, maybe, 15 minutes. Easy walk. From tourist point of view, walking distance from all major tourist attractions: Anne Frank house, Van Gogh museum, red light district, nine streets shopping area, canal cruises.
Magnificent facility, magnificent service, fantastic location, would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Joseph Liszt on ground level so not actually canal view. Vey quiet though, and no traffic noise eve...

we stayed at theToren, Sofitel Grand and Seven one Seven during the same visit. Hotel 7 1 7 was our favorite. Our room was large and comfortable, complete with a book about all the works of Vermeer. Every time we entered the room, classical music was softly playing. Even though it rained during out stay, we felt comfortable with the wine and snacks brought to our room each afternoon when we returned from our outings. We could walk to the art museums from the hotel. The staff was kind and pleasant.

Recently spent 3 nights at Hotel 717 in Amsterdam, Holland. This was my 4th trip to Amsterdam and have to admit that this small boutique hotel exceeded my expectations. The rooms are beautiful and the staff was the most accommodating.
I actually reserved two rooms, #5 and #8, both were spectacular and large. There was a bit of construction outside our hotel and it did wake us up one morning. Fortunately, they did not start the noise making until 7:30 AM.
The Hotel is a bit pricey, but well worth it. Breakfast was wonderful. Items in minibar are complimentary and restocked daily.
Would definitely stay with Hotel 717 again.

Room Tip: If you cannot do stairs ask for a floor on the lowest level, since as in most older hotels, there is...
