My mum and I stayed here for two nights and agreed that it was one of the best places we'd ever stayed at. Frank and Oki are extremely friendly and helpful and take pride in their work for the B&B, and it shows. The property is well located to walk to all the sights of Amsterdam, or to take public transport if one does not feel like walking. Everything was wonderful - from the bed, to the breakfast, to the clean floors and the extremely clean toilet. We have no complaints and would definitely stay here again if we are in Amsterdam! Thanks a lot again to Frank and Oki!

My partner and I stayed here in November 2012 for 2 nights. We were pleasantly surprised. I booked late the day before but I received a prompt reply within minutes from Oki and Frank. I chose this bed and breakfast due to the rave reviews. Our room was beautiful. Everything we needed was there. Frank wasn't lying about the bed either, it was a dream to sleep on. Breakfast was lovely. I was over the moon with the heated tiles in the bathroom! Couldn't fault a thing! Thanks Oki and Frank.

Le Quartier Sonang is a little gem in the heart of Amsterdam. This place was an easy walk or tram ride to everywhere we wanted to go.

We arrived and were greeted so heartily. After tea, we went and napped...the bed was amazing! So comfortable. This gave us the energy to walk all over Amsterdam. The owners are so friendly and happy to give advice, etc. Truly, it almost felt like home.

Breakfast was delicious, and brought up to our room. It was an easy walk to our post-breakfast jaunt around the Vondelpark.

Definitely recommended for anyone who wants a wonderful stay in this wonderful city.

Room Tip: The room overlooking the street is great for people-watching!

My wife and me stayed at Le Quartier Sonang for three nights over her 30th birthday. Oki and Frank made this trip perfect with their service, the nice room and the very lovely breakfast they served in our room. The location is great - it is a quiet area but with the bike we were in the city center or the Rijksmuseum in about five minutes.
We recommended this hotel right after our return to our friends and family!

Perhaps this is the cynicism of regular travellers but we must confess before we went to Amsterdam and we kept on seeing one 5* review after another of Le Quartier Sonang we thought it must be too good to be true! Then we arrived and found out everything was absolutely spot on! Having never stayed in a B&B before, often opting for larger hotels where you are more anonymous we were worried about staying somewhere so small and personal. We needn’t have worried!

Before our flight Frank and Oki checked in with us for our flight details to make sure they were home for our arrival. The B&B is really easy to find, just down a quiet tree lined street off Nassaukade. You’ll know when you have arrived as they have their TripAdvisor Winner’s plaque proudly displayed in the porch! Frank opened the door to us and welcomed us in. Over a drink he talked us through a map of the city, the best places to visit, the best times to go to the museums, the different neighbourhoods good for cafes, bars and shops. It was great to hear about the city first hand from a local, and we loved getting unique tips that took us away from the usual tourist hotspots. We got lots of leaflets, books and vouchers for great places to go and see. Frank and Oki have an absolutely beautiful house, and we love what they have done with the place. We were taken to our room (as in another review Oki had taken up our cases whilst we were checking in!) and couldn’t believe we were going to be staying in such a beautiful place for our stay. Frank showed us all of the room’s amenities and how everything worked and then left us to it. They really have thought of everything – umbrellas to borrow in case it rains, international adaptors, tea and coffee making facilities, chocolates on your pillow every night before you go to sleep, even slippers to wear if your feet get cold!

The room was absolutely spotlessly clean; it was so perfect you almost didn’t want to touch anything! But you felt so at home that you couldn’t help but relax. The bed was huge and really comfortable, the bathroom was large and spacious and the shower was really spacious and powerful. We joked that it was nicer than our flat back home – but it’s probably true! The quality of the furnishings and appliances was second to none. The room was tastefully decorated and had all the mod-cons you would find in a 5* hotel, but with additional touches to make it more unique and special. We stayed in the Kamar Bidadari room which had a lovely terrace you could open the French doors onto and get the fresh morning air. The courtyard our room overlooked was lovely and peaceful as well, and coupled with the wonderful "cloud" bed made for a fantastic night's sleep. After a great night's sleep you were then served breakfast in your room at a time that suited you. Each morning it was lovely to sit in the peace and quiet of your room and have a leisurely breakfast of fresh bread, croissants, fruit and yoghurt before beginning your day!

The B&B itself is in a lovely neighbourhood. You feel safe walking back there late at night and there are local restaurants and bars nearby if you don’t always want to venture into the centre. It was about a 10/15 minute walk to the Leidseplein and Museum District and you could get right up to the Red Light District and Dam Square within half an hour. Amsterdam is a small city and the best thing you can do is get out and walk everywhere, it’s a great way to see all of the different neighbourhoods and canals, and chance upon some of the more residential areas with their lovely pavement cafes.

Although we were only there for two nights we absolutely loved our stay at Le Quartier Sonang. After we checked out we came back for our cases half an hour earlier at Frank’s request to sign the guest book and have a glass of wine with him. Such kindness and friendliness was what makes this little spot such a great find. It was lovely to hear about the history of the neighbourhood and the B&B itself, a chance you probably wouldn’t get in a large hotel. The main reason this B&B works is that the owners love what they do and they really do put their guests first. They want people to come to Amsterdam and enjoy their stay and enjoy the city, and will help as much as possible in making that happen.

Before we came we were worried that it might feel too small and claustrophobic, but Frank and Oki are friendly without being overbearing and you can come and go as you please making it feel like a home away from home. We would have no hesitation recommending this wonderful place to our friends, family and anyone who will listen! We will certainly look no further when we decide to visit Amsterdam again!

Le Quartier Sonang proved to be the perfect place to stay in Amsterdam. It was convenient, quiet and classy. We received the warmest of hospitality from the moment we arrived - nothing was too much trouble for our generous hosts. We appreciated being provided with a lovely breakfast in the privacy of our room, being given helpful advice on places to visit and being able to return to the comfort of a beautiful and spacious room.

For our first trip to Amsterdam, we could not have picked a more perfect place to stay. We arrived by train from Paris and because of Frank's perfect directions, we found it in no time via the tram from the Central Station. Frank welcomed us both with a glass of wine while Oki, unbeknownst to us, carried our bags up the stairs to our room. He supplied us with a map, circled the places we had requested to see and gave us suggestions for restaurants, which turned out to be perfect. Do ask them for recommendations--you won't be disappointed!

We stayed in the Kamar Bidadari room--immaculate, perfectly furnished with a very functional and beautifully designed bathroom. As other reviewers have stated, the bed was divine--I couldn't wait to get into it at night and had a hard time getting out of it in the morning. Not only was it comfortable, the bed linens were of the highest quality. Breakfast was served in our room each morning and was fresh, delicious and healthy. We chose to eat on the balcony as the weather in the morning was beautiful. Amsterdam is not a large city and there is no need for transportation--everything can be walked to. Le Quartier Sonang was a perfect location because it is located on a very quiet street away from all the noise and touristy spots in the center of town, yet close enough to walk there within 20 minutes. The Museum area where the Rijksmuseum and Van Gough Museums are located are less than a 10-minute walk away and Anne Frank's house about 15 minutes away.

But the very best feature of Le Quartier Sonang is the hospitality of Frank and Oki. They are the most friendly, helpful and authentic hosts you could ever wish for. They sincerely want you to enjoy every faucet of your stay in Amsterdam and strive hard to make sure you do, from their friendly welcome, great suggestions for restaurants, helpful advice on how to get around town and back to the airport, right down to the chocolates on your pillow every night! On the morning of our very early departure, Oki & Frank were both up to greet us with a quick breakfast of yogurt and fruit and help us get our luggage downstairs for our departure.

Thank you both for such a memorable stay in Amsterdam--we can't wait to come back again!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Kamar Bidadari room. Perfect balcony to breakfast on in the morning and very quiet...
