“our home in Amsterdam”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

Me and my wife went to Amsterdam for a couple of days before going to a family reunion in Germany. Choosing to stay at Tulip of Amsterdam B&B made the experience of visiting this wonderful city not only pleasant but one that we want to repeat.
Not only we were received with joy and care but we were also taken care of as if we were family. An example: I can't drink cow milk, and usually, when staying in hotels, I don't find alternatives, like soy milk. Here they bought it for me. They say it wasn't a big deal, but it really was because it made my breakfast more enjoyable and this kind of attention and care is proof that these guys really know the concept of hospitality. It really is a home away from home. We loved the fact that it is a real dutch house, we loved our room, we loved the bottle of wine, we loved the location, we loved the breakfast, we loved the people, we loved Tulip, we loved Amsterdam.
We left Tulip not saying 'goodbye' as in most places but saying 'See you soon, my friends!!'

P.S: David & Chris (… and Loytje) are the best hosts you could find in any country in the world!

We arrived at 11pm on a Sunday night, however after emailing the owners after our booking, we were expected. Someone was available to meet us upon our arrival, and went over our plans for the next few days and were given helpful advice and recommendations, as well as a map with key locations highlighted.

Our room was up a single flight of very steep stairs, which may be difficult for anyone less mobile. The room was incredibly well equipt, with a DVD player, hairdryer and straighteners. The DVD player worked for the European region, so DVD's taken from the UK work.

We were given a complimentary bottle of white wine upon arrival, and our room was stocked with breakfast cereals and bars, as well was soft drinks and tea and coffee. After our late arrival, these touches were incredibly well appreciated.

The hotel's location is extremely convenient. The red light district is across the canal opposite the B&B, and Dam Square is only a five minute walk away. The B&B is a roughly 10 minute walk away from Amsterdam Central Station and the owners gave us clear instructions on how to reach the B&B from the station.

I would wholeheartedly recommend the Tulip of Amsterdam B&B and it is likely that we will return.

I wouldn't normally write reviews for places i visited unless it was absolutely terrible or absolutely fabulous and the case of this is the fabulous one. One of the best accommodations i have ever been while travelling more than 20 different countries.
Everything you can possibly expect from an accommodation is all here, and even more. Lovely touching deco, fantastic service from the hosts and so on and on. I am already planning to visit Amsterdam once more with my friend in this summer, and will happily choose to stay here again if the rooms are available.

I took my husband to Amsterdam for his 50th Birthday, I looked long and hard at accommodation, after reading the fabulous reviews I decided to book he Tulip. Wow, we were not disappointed, on arrival we were met by Chris who gave us some great insight to the area and showed us to our room. The room was lovely, as a birthday treat we had been given a bottle of Prosecco and some Apple cake, we did not have the B and B option but everything was in our room that we could make a lovely breakfast from.
The Tulip is in an excellent location, very easy walking distance from the station, Dam square, Red light district and most other attractions.
A perfect 3 night stay in a wonderful city with beautiful accommodation and perfect hosts.
We are already talking about our return visit.

Spent 3 nights here in the lead up to Konigsdag (or King's Day) in April and the city was extremely crowded with celebrating locals and visitors alike.

Tulip is an approximate 10min easy walk from the main train station and quite easy to find, thanks to the explicit directions on its website.

David and Chris are wonderful, friendly and helpful hosts.
We stayed in the Tulip Room which was quite large and decorated in a Dutch theme. The bathroom was rather small but adequate for our stay.
There was a coffee machine and little waffle biscuits (yum) were left in the room each day although unfortunately we didn't get round to drinking the welcome bottle of red.

Guests make their own breakfast and there are ample provisions for the purpose in the kitchen (which is the owners' kitchen) – catering for both continental and fuller breakfasts. Each of the two tables is laid out for guests, it's just a matter of preparing whatever you feel like on the day. This is actually easier than it might sound as one can go down to the kitchen any time between 8 and 11am rather than having to front up at a specific time and can prepare breakfast as they like from the ample choice of ingredients already prepared and in the guest's fridge.

Tulip is within easy walking distance of most of Amsterdam's attractions and there are countless restaurants in the vicinity.

Although we found Amsterdam one of the dearer cities in Europe, we would definitely recommend this b & b for it's location and wonderful hosts.

Room Tip: As is typical of most of Amsterdams homes, the staircase is extremely steep and narrow. We're i...

On a 1 to 5 rating scale I give The Tulip of Amsterdam a 6. Chris and David gave us five perfect days in Amsterdam. We ate at the restaurants they recommended, saw many of the sights and attractions they suggested, launched our excursions into the surrounding countryside with their wise advice and counsel and we returned every evening to our beautiful room in their lovely bed and breakfast in its ideal location in the picturesque central canal district in the heart of old Amsterdam. On top of all that their hospitality knew no bounds, with every accommodation and consideration possible extended to us. There were so many fine little touches in the room and service that we kept finding new reasons to smile. Thank you so very much, Chris and David, for a heavenly vacation.

We visited Amsterdam during the weekend of Koningsdag in April.
From accommodating our late arrival to allowing for an extra hour sleep in prior to our departure, Chris and David are consummate hosts.
The B&B is located in a perfect location, just away from the bright lights but close enough to walk to most places. I'd highly recommend it for a short stay in Amsterdam especially by its short stroll to Amsterdam Central Station.
Rooms are spacious and incredibly clean – really nice touch was the free mini bar!
And the vibe is exactly what you'd expect from a friendly B&B.
We'll be back!
