“Great find just outside the Redlight District”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 March 2013

We were walking along looking for somewhere "new" to try (we've visited Amsterdam, many, many times). The menu and decor looked good. A couple girls walked out as we were looking in so I asked "how was the food". Pretty good was the response so in we went. As others have commented, the decor is kinda train car/booth-like. Above our "coach" was Mickey, the house cat. He's not so friendly but not mean. The restaurant had a nice beer selection (I had Guinness) and a varied Dutch food selection. We were unfamiliar with some of the food so the waiter was good enough to explain everything we asked about. We settled on soups and splittling a Dutch beef stew. All were fantastic. Without a doubt, this is a place we'll return to for good, filling, reasonable food and drink!

“A place with very nice inside decorations and smiley & friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2013

We ate here on our first day to Amsterdam. After walking a lot to find a place to eat, we finally settled for this one. The inside of the restaurant looks is decorated like an old train, the seats are train couches with luggage in the upper part, which was a first to us! Really nice. Now about food. We ve got the Dutch specialties, this means smashed potatoes with either spinach or with carrots and onion accompanied by a type of meat, that you had to choose out of 4 options. Everthing was covered in this delicious sauce. The waitress was really nice and recommended us what goes with what. There were 4 of us and ordered 4 different things. Everything was delicious. The food came fast. The drinks were on the house. Overall, I think it s place to go to if you are searching for a "non expesive" lunch in th city.

“good food and Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 January 2013

We visited here to try some traditional Dutch food - and it was really very good, all home made btw. We had one of the potato dishes with meat ball and delicious rich gravy. Just right for a January evening well below freezing.
The restaurant had plenty of space with some seat in the form of old railway carriages. Our hosts were very pleasant and chatty with all the customers.

Two main courses and two beers 29euro

Yes we really enjoyed it.

“Great dinner with excellent service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2013 via mobile

I stopped in at Old Quarter Hotel and Restaurant for dinner my 3rd night in AMS. This is a bar and restaurant in the first floor of the Belgian influenced Old Quarter Hotel.

The service was very friendly and professional. My waitress sat us at the front window so we could "people watch" until we discovered wifi was not available in the front part of the restaurant...only in the back, closer to the hotel.

The restaurant had a good variety available on the menu, as well as a daily special. I had the pork with red cabbage "a good Belgian meal" according to my server.

The food arrived hot and the portions were plentiful. I was very pleased with the taste of the food and the welcoming atmosphere.

The price, when factored in Euros, was very reasonable and I left the restaurant fully sated.

“Restaurant - decent food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2012

We had spare ribs and red cabbage stew, I really liked it. Serving took a bit of time, it would have been nice if the waitress would have told us before we ordered that it was going to take a while ... Over all, we liked the food and the place.
