Stopped in for a drink on our first day in Amsterdam. Lovely old bar, wood everywhere etc. It's in a quieter area of the centre too, but as Amsterdam centre is quite small, not too far away from most of the attractions.
At first it seemed the reception was a little cold, but I guess having endless tourists shouting at you in foreign languages does this to you. Anyway, as it was raining we stayed for a second drink and a some lunch (all good). We also got talking to the ladies behind the bar and it turns out they have a very dry sense of humour and are great hosts. On leaving I promised the next time we came back we would try to have learnt a little Dutch - the response was rolled eyes and "Good Luck".
Will definitely be back.
