I've been going to this place since it opened, and after 5 years away from Amsterdam, I was pleased that it's still there even if it's now a trip across town rather than just up the road.
The decor is dreadful! It's actually pretty well the same as the Persian restaurant that was there before hand, but this is a place to eat, not to enjoy the ambiance of a Calcutta massage parlor!
The food is all cooked to order, and in my opinion has the best samosa's I think I've ever eaten.
My personal favorites are the prawn jai puri or the mushroom prawn. The other half had the mixed grill last time, and there was enough to take away for a second meal.
The matter paneer is a great side if you're into Indian cheese.
The have their own tandor, so no packet nan breads, it's all freshly made.
No imported beers, so it's washed down with Heineken which is on tap so pints are available.
It's pretty easy to get to, close to the number 1, 12 and 3 tram lines.
