Willems was recommended by The Conservatorium Hotel (a great hotel, BTW). Mark and his staff are superb! We enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service on our first night, we decided it was the place to go on our 2nd (and last night) in Amsterdam!! The four of us enjoyed "starters" of oysters, fois gras, paprika soup and I delighted in their version of Bruschetta!! All fantastic! Waldorf salad and a salad of aubergines, yogurt and parmasean were fresh and beautifully presented. A variety of entree's ~ fresh fish, veal, lamb, and rib eye"s were all happily digested ! French fries, without a doubt, the best I have ever consumed. Desserts, all sounded delightful but my favorite ~ Willem Wonka ~ chocolate mousse, white chocolate and lemon curd (yes I enjoyed this creation on both nights), we also lavished over the "nutty/pecan torte/cake with vanilla / caramel ice cream and the creme brulee. The wine list was superb! Whether staying in the Museum district or Amsterdam's Old Town, it wouldn't matter -I would definitely make reservations at Willems! Service and attention to detail was quite noticable. Mark, Chef Nick and the staff do an amazing job. As my title states ---best dinners on our entire trip were enjoyed at Willems!

As most Amsterdam food is casual, we doubled down on our fine dining research, circling around Willems for days like sharks ready to close in and take a bite! It is located on Willemsparkweg in a wide circular spot in the road, so we could see the two blue Tesla Model S silently steal by, along with Maserati, Porsche, BMW, Audi and Mercedes wagons.

We sat at a bare wood table and were brought dark hearty bread with tapenade. We ordered one glass of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi 2013 from near Ancona and one les Galets Cotes du Rhone 2010, 14%.

Foie gras with three golden brioche toasts, apple compote, crumbled ginger bread, and chervil brought back memories of France. My sister had a rich potato leek soup which was poured into her soup bowl from a white pitcher. The soup was decorated with flash fried potato crumbles and flowers.

We convinced the kitchen to make sea bream from the dinner menu, with cauliflower and creamy potatoes. Lamb stew with peeled and delicately cooked tomatoes on a bed of spelt whole grain was superb.

For dessert, the waiter brought two cups of pear crumble with vanilla ice cream and espresso. Homemade translucent white irregular mints accompanied the dessert.

We rated it an A. Especially after we saw the glittery wrapped curvaceous bathroom decor downstairs with raised bowl sink and cloth hand towels!

During our stay in Amsterdam last week our receptionist at The Memphis hotel suggested we
would like Willems restaurant plus it was only a short walk from our hotel.
Just goes to prove once again that recommendations are always the best to follow.
Another small but lovely restaurant with about 50 covers when using the outside seating area.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was great, went for their Charcuterie platter
followed by Rib of Veal. Wine was also nice.
At around £40 / 50 a head including drinks I would say this restaurant is good value for money and well worth a visit. Not quite sure why it is so low down the trip advisor ratings !!.

This is a small and cozy restaurant with an elegant and warm atmosphere made special with a very attentive staff. The salads were beautifully presented and the entrees good, too, although I had the pre-fix meal which was "hanger steak"- a little tough. Desserts were excellent!

We will definitely return!

What a great find in the museum district! This restaurant reminds one of the outstanding cuisine found in New York or Napa Valley. Creative chefs; attentive staff. Definitely not a tourist spot but clearly prized by locals for entertaining special guests.
Did I mention creative? Fabulous menu offerings you'll not find elsewhere!
