“Chic little gem”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

This was a cool and convenient location for me. Maybe a little too cool, might have liked a rug or something a bit less utilitarian. My only criticism was that when I arrived after a long day at work and just off my flight, it was 10pm and both the bar and restaurant were closed. I had not eaten, it would have been nice to have had people be able to prepare me something. When I did get to eat there, it was delicious. The street outside was a little noisy although my room was lovely.

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Hotel V Nesplein. I am not sure why it seemed that the bar was closed, as we stay open to the public (not just the hotel guests) until much later. But you are right, the kitchen closes at 10 pm, and perhaps we could have made a little exception for you that time! I will pass your feedback on to the staff of The Lobby Restaurant.

Until the next time,
Amanda

I have just spent 4 nights at Hotel V Nesplein and cannot emphasise just how good this hotel is. No more than 2 minutes from Dam Square yet perfectly quiet. Great central location with Centraal Station about 10 minute walk away, Canal Ring and 'Negen Straatjes' (Nine Little Streets) about 10-15 walk (I actually can't remember but really wasn't that far at all) and overall, just a good location for a base.

The hotel itself was fantastic. Comfiest bed I've ever slept in! The staff were polite and helpful - 11 out of 10 for all the staff I encountered.

Will definitely be booking in at Hotel V next time I'm in Amsterdam.

We had a fantastic time in Amsterdam and the hotel was perfect. Upon arrival we were given a map and perfect directions to all the things to see. The room was lovely and clean, the bathroom was trendy with a massive double shower and very well finished decor. We ate at the restaurant on the night after wandering around for an hour not seeing anything better. The food was lovely and very well priced. We would not hesitate to book again as the location is perfect and the hospitality was first class.

Friendly and helpful staff. Original and stylish decor. Comfy and clean room/bathroom. A tasty breakfast using good quality ingredients. Very well located near the Dam, bars, quirky shops and the canals. One little thing though was the Smart TV either wasn't working properly or was difficult to operate.

Sometimes a hotel gets all the main things right and the Hotel V is one of them. So in my book, if you have a good location (between Dam Square and the main Museums square) with convenient restaurants (can recommend the MAPPA Italian just 20 yards down the road, which squeezed us in on St Valentine's Day) a good sized room and excellent bed, a lot has been achieved. Everything worked and the room was always at a good temperature.

The staff are really helpful and friendly in that relaxed Dutch fashion, and the food is excellent, giving the bread a special mention as the freshest I have ever had in a hotel.
The decor has much dark brown (as is the way in Amsterdam) with a modern flavour towards functionality so if you want a bright old fashioned Delft look, go to a hotel maybe located on a canal which goes for a more traditional look.
The street location is quiet. Its about 8-10 minutes walk from the Central railway station.
In Amsterdam most things are walkable but if you fancy using trams, consider the IAMsterdam tourist pass which can be for one, two or three days (includes many museums) and is bought at the Tourist Office next to Central Station.
I think that's it, hope you have nice stay!

If you want a hotel in a great location, with amazingly helpful staff, great value for money, fantastic food, attentive service and a true local feel then the Hotel V Nesplein won't disappoint. The room we stayed in was glorious and the hotel is one of the most beautifully designed that I have had the pleasure of staying in. The industrial 1920s chic works incredibly well and the entire place is cosy but with a vibrant young atmosphere which is very fitting to it's location. Its quite literally a 10 minute walk from Central Station and in the heart and hub of the city centre. The breakfast was both delicious and good value for money as was the dinner. All the staff speak fluent English and are willing to help you if you want to find somewhere to eat, the whereabouts of a museum or how to hire bikes. I would recommend to anyone and will definitely be staying their again.
