This is not a traditional Bed & Breakfast, more a short term self catering rental. The house is located in an easily accessible and attractive quiet suburb close to the centre on Amsterdam. Parking is at the house and is easy and free. The walk to the ferry, which runs frequently and is free, is 20 to 25 minutes brisk walk and takes you along the river side and through a light industrial estate. Scott, who works full time, left us instructions on how to collect our room and front door keys on our arrival. He also left us maps and instructions on how to find the ferry and central Amsterdam. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. Scott can provide a breakfast for an additional 10 euros each. Or there is a shared self catering kitchenette with free tea, coffee, fruit juice and breakfast cereals and fresh fruit. Scott is very friendly and helpful, but we only saw him twice during the late evening after he'd returned home from work. Scott prefers payment in cash, but can take credit cards or PayPal with an additional 4% administration charge. Compared with other Bed & Breakfasts we've stayed at across most countries in Europe it misses being met and greeted by the host, daily cleaning and bed making, and a prepared breakfast in the morning. You are very much left to your own devices without the support of a resident host, which for the experienced and confident traveller is OK.

This was the nicest B&B we have ever stayed in. So comfortable and lovely, every little attention to detail, and Scott was the most friendly and welcoming host you could hope for. Despite the utmost quality, City Fields is a total bargain at 85 euros a night. True, it is a little out of central Amsterdam, but we really enjoyed the 20 minute refreshing walk to the free ferry in the morning, and it was nice to stay out of the city centre for a change and see some of up-and -coming Noord district. The breakfast was amazing! Can't wait to go back!

So many nice things to say, where to start? We found CFB&B two weeks into our European tour (we're musicians) and couldn't have been happier. Since we played in Koln, Germany that evening we rolled in late at night, and our host Scott was accommodating and nice with our short notice booking, leaving us a key to get in. Our room was comfortable, well maintained, beautifully decorated, and peaceful with a bathroom boasting a cozy claw foot tub! Also, a detail we loved was the bed was not two twin beds pushed together, like most of the European rooms we stayed in throughout our trip. The neighborhood was beautiful and quiet. The ferry ride from the pier to downtown Amsterdam was a breeze and saved us from having to drive into the city. Parking at the pier was easy as well. Scott was the absolute best host-- making an already comfortable stay even better with conversation, helpful tips, a glass of wine, and dutch pancakes! If you are looking for a relaxing, completely perfect place to stay, City Fields is your best bet. It made our Amsterdam experience truly special. Can't wait to come back!

First: We will come back!!!

It's fantastic at B&B City Fields. The room and the bathroom are modern/ new, clean and comfortable. The room is big and the bed is extremly comfortable and big in size (180x180 cm), too. There is also a open kitchen (fridge, coffee mashine etc.), a washing mashine, city maps and the possibility to rent bikes. The bathroom is very modern and clean and has a rain shower with a good water pressure (drops are big enough;-)).

The hosts, Scott and Francesco are just wonderful, helpful and they have very good tips (for every event you want to do) :-) Scotts breakfast is delicious (you have to try the pancakes)!

The neighborhood is lovely and quiet; free and safe parking and the free ferry is a 10 minutes bike ride away.

It's not just a B&B, it feels like coming home at City Fields!!!

This place is fantastic! Modern, spacious, a touch British, the 2 guestrooms upstairs are smacking new, extremely comfortably, with every 4 to 5 star amenity provided. The hosts, Scot and his friend Francesco, are absolutely wonderful, caring, and helpful - offering personal pickup & drop-off (we were carrying heavy luggage), renting bikes to us at dirt cheap rates, and helping finding events of our interest and booking them over the internet to avoid any queues.

The rooms are double in size to what you usually get in Europe and the bathrooms big, airy, and bright. You also get an open kitchen, a washing machine, complete map guides, and a detailed booklet explain everything you need to know about Amsterdam (places to visit, what to eat & where, getting around the city, bicycle trails into the countryside, and much more).

Located in North Amsterdam, away from the touristy hussle bussle, in a lovely neighbourhood, the B&B is a 20 minutes bike ride to the ferry (a 5 minute ride to the closer one – btw both the ferry rides are for free), and the ferries are right outside Amsterdam Central station. This was hands down the best place we stayed at during our trip (having stayed at the top-rated tripadvisor B&Bs in Rome, Venice, Munich, Paris, & Istanbul). The walking around, the ferry ride, the bicycling, the scenic routes, the lovely accommodation, the ever helpful and warm hosts, all combine to make your stay perfectly perfect in Amsterdam!

Tip: Contact them directly for best rates - & remember: Cash remains the reigning king :-)

I stayed at City Fields for a weekend in Feb and have to say, it was excellent. The location is away from the centre, which I loved. It's an easy and enjoyable 15-20 minute cycle into the centre, so you can avoid the hoardes of tourists and the noise in the centre, but still get out and about easily. City Fields is a beautiful house and home, the attention to detail is fantastic, the B&B rooms have a private entrance to the building, a small kitchen and dining area between the 2 rooms, large bed rooms with seating, beautiful bathrooms with big bath tubs. I stayed in the city room, the bed is sooooooo comfortable, I slept like a baby. Excellent breakfasts. Avoid the tourist hoardes and give North Amsterdam a try, you won;t be disappointed. Oh, and the hosts are just lovely.

Room Tip: Both rooms are gorgeous.
