I booked this on the basis of other good reviews here and was not disappointed. The owner was very friendly and helpful (with good tips about things to visit that we might not have done). He lives next door so is available for advice/help if needs be. The flat is very distinctive as the pictures suggest. It has a really nice feel (with high ceilings - though note, the stairs are steep). The kitchen is well equipped and has a lot of cooking basics in place already (oil, vinegar, salt, tea, spices, coffee etc) The location is good, both in terms of being in interesting area with lots of places to eat/drink (e.,g the Foodhallen). I don't know if anyone else mentioned that it is only 5 mins walk from the final stop of the "COnnexion" airport bus (so you can go direct from Schiphol to (Erlandsgracht terminus) just across the canal from the house. The museum quarter is about 15 mins walk, the touristy centre, about 1/2 hour, but there are plenty of trams, with a stop about 5 mins from the apartment.
The apartment itself is lovely and exactly as it looks in the photos with plenty of space and lovingly decorated.
The area is great and is easy walking distance to the Jordaan and to the Centre but I would also recommend going in the opposite direction and visiting De Hallen which is fantastic. There is also a tram and bus stop nearby which makes getting to other areas of the city easy.
Communication with Robert and Anna before we arrived was easy and prompt and Robert was on hand to meet us at the apartment to show us around and offer tips and advice - he quite clearly loves his home city which is great to see.
If you decide to stay in this fantastic apartment you will be spending time in one of those amazing high and narrow houses that make Amsterdam so unique. And what a beautiful house this is! Spacious, luminous, tastefully decorated, fully equipped, super confortable and very well located (it was close enough to go walking or by bus everywhere we wanted and at the same time in a tranquil and very nice area that is really worth exploring).
Anna is such a nice host! she helped us find interesting places we had no idea about and even showed us the way around the neighborhood herself.
The apartment is on a first floor and the stairs are quite steep but it only adds to the charm of the house.
Every detail in this apartment was nice and pretty, the furniture, the decor... the crockery is adorable! there were books on the shelves that we could browse through, the kitchen had coffee, tea and spices galore, and Anna even left us a little box of delicious cookies for tea!
There are nice restaurants, supermarkets and grocery stores in the surroundings and even a fresh market within walking distance, lots of options wether you like to cook or prefer to eat out (we did both).
I highly recommend this marvelous apartment, and I am sure I'll stay here again next time I'll visit Amsterdam.
My friend and I arrived to Amsterdam after 8 hours airplane ride from New Delhi, India. We were tired and ready to get settled in Amsterdam to explore this beautiful city. Our airplane was two hours late, by the time we arrived at the airport Anna has written to us, noticing that we had not arrived, luckily Amsterdam airport had one hour free wifi, and we were able to send an email. We followed the recommendation and took the airport bus for 5.00 euros. It went well, it took about 45 minutes. The problem for us was that we did not have Internet connection and couldn't get a google map to work for us. And some of the locals seemed as lost as we were. After running a bit in circle, we found a nice person at a shop who was nice enough to call Robert the owner. Robert decided to come in his bike and rescued us, which was great and we really appreciate that. We very much liked the apartment and the host. The stairs might be a little challenge if you had lots of luggage. The first day, Robert helped us, and upon leaving, we managed little by little to get down the stairs.
The street is very quiet, you can walk to Anne Frank museum and to almost everywhere. You also have a big kitchen, that you can cook. We made some French toast for breakfast . Very nice kitchen too. We highly recommend this place. Finally, we had a small incident with the apartment key and again Robert found a solution and had a good attitude about it.
We had an amazing time staying in this gorgeous little apartment - area is lovely (far more relaxing than city centre) and the owner recommended some places to eat which we will be visiting again very soon !
The apartment itself really has to be seen to be appreciated and has has everything you need for your stay and more - would highly recommend this place and enjoy experiencing the local lifestyle
Exceptionally well decorated living/sleep room, and a well equipped kitchen. A very quiet location in spite of being in the heart of the city. The hosts were kind and helpful in pointing our where we should go and at what times of the day. We took their advice and were rewarded for it.
Stayed here for 5 nights October 2017. The apartment is in a nice part of the city in a side street of Nassaukade and within walking distance of Leidesplein and also the 9 Streets. Several frequent trams run nearby and a bus to & from the airport starts not far from the apartment. There are plenty of shops nearby and we found a good bar (The Kiwi) 150 metres away. A great music bar (Maloe Melo) is only a short walk away. The apartment is excellent and is located on the first floor and comprises a bright and spacious living room with a double bed in an alcove. Out across the landing is a good sized fully equipped kitchen, a toilet and a lovely shower room. The apartment has lots of art on display and we found several interesting books on Amsterdam in the living room. Our hosts were very friendly offering advice on local facilities and the best places to visit in Amsterdam. We really enjpyed our stay here.
