Thank goodness we waited. Kings Day, World War II Silent Remembrance, Tulip Mania, Spring Holiday for Dutch Children and you name it was over. Only we tourists here at the end of tulip season on a Monday AM. No lines for the museum! (a bit bumpy still at the Vemeers!) and no lines for the Cafe. Glad we waited. A special beer of the month (SpringBock), a share platter of Dutch meet and cheeses and a hot cup of Mustard soup with salmon. What a delightful meal delivered promptly by a smiling and cheery wait staff who saw our tired bones! I have had museum meals in 12 countries including our own. Nothing close in this bright (it was a sunny day too!) renovation of the the original courtyard with its modern straight line box sculpture matching the bricklines and hanging above our heads. It was a wonderful taste of old and modern Holland in atmosphere, service and so much food we took a bag to our hotel for dinner. If going to the museum, I advise that this Cafe is worth the trip.
