The Rijksmuseum is one of the world's best, and to see the art work well, and to get a seat in the cafe, arriving early is the best plan. (We arrived at the museum at 9:30 and were in the cafe by 11:30 and did not have any wait.)

Having read some reviews of the cafe, we expected uninspired food at a high cost, but we were pleasantly surprised. We had very good sandwiches and salads that were priced at what we spent in other casual restaurants in Amsterdam. The service was good, and orders are placed on the server's tablet so the order goes in instantly and can be filled quickly by other servers.

As museum cafes go, this is a good one.

The Rijksmuseum is a splendid repository of the greatest 17th century art in the world - I am open to argument, but I am not far off - and it's nice to find a really pleasant spot to eat right there in the atrium.

What I love - a glass of Prosecco and a piece of pie at the end of two hours poring over great Dutch art of the Golden Age
.

A bit pricey and a bit of a wait but you need to eat (and rest) a bit during your stay. We were glad to sit down for a few minutes!

After an hour we found the need for something hot to drink, queued for 20 mins and finally managed a coffee. Overpriced but I suppose it is what you would expect, would we use again?,perhaps if not quite so crowded.

The only bad thing about this o pleasant cafe is the queue to get in. Waiting time for couples was ok, but still it was time out of the attractions of the museum.
