My husband and I booked to stay here after reading all the glowing reviews in Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. We stayed for 4 nights in July and wished we stayed longer.
On arrival, Peter greeted us at the door and showed us around the beautiful house. He even offered to do our laundry for free and there were chocolate chip cookies waiting for us. After a 13 hour flight from Malaysia and 3 hour train ride (from Paris) it was a welcome relief and felt like coming home to a dear friend! As our time in Amsterdam was short, he provided us with ideas on where to go and what to see including day trips with some of the popular tour companies. Peter also provided us with a map of the city.
Best room in the house is definitely the BOXER ROOM which we stayed. It was on the first floor, meaning we did not have to climb another flight of stairs. There was a fully equipped and well stocked kitchen with everything provided. There are 2 rooms on this first floor sharing this kitchen and living area so it felt more like a spacious 2 bedroom apartment. The living area was tastefully and beautifully decorated with a library of travel guidebooks. The ambience of the room was second to none and Peter even provided us with free internet via a netbook. Peter even offered to help print our Van Gogh Museum tickets as we bought them online to avoid the queues!
During our stay, the other room was vacant so we felt like we had the whole floor to ourselves! The room itself was clean and spacious and although the windows did not have a view, as it was extremely close to the other building, it was still bright and airy and very private. The TV was full of English channels so we had plenty to watch.
Breakfast was fantastic and extremely generous - Peter is an excellent cook. While Peter was away, Wilma did an excellent job of continuing the great service. The doggies Curly and Pepe added to the warm atmosphere of the house. We loved this place so much that we will definitely stay here again if we visit Amsterdam. Peter & his team have set the standard of what a B&B should be like. Thanks for leaving us with fond memories of Amsterdam.

We came after backpacking trip to Central America, unprepared for Amsterdam time (was last minute decision).
We knocked on #1 B&B from TripAdvisor and we was lucky enough to catch a room someone canceled the night before.
Peter was welcoming us after long flight, advising us about nice place to have breakfast and start the day. Providing us Maps and directions as required.
We got the 2nd floor street side room which was a nicely decorated, warm, clean and amazingly soft bed :).
We had the chance to have 3 breakfasts handmade by Peter, each one of them was new world to experience.
We loved coming back after a day of traveling and find nice surprises in the kitchen (Brownies, Cookies etc.)
To summary, very recommended

Boogards is a real treat. If you want to stay in a beautifully renovated, decorated, brilliantly situated traditional Amsterdam house, with plenty of personality, then this is the place for you. Only stay here if you want to be in the "classier" side of town, and are happy to experience some genuine (and excellent!) dutch breakfasts and hospitality.

We loved our stay! Peter, the owner, is a marvelous host who makes you feel like an old friend and pampers you with a different breakfast menu every morning and wonderful treats for the afternoon. The brownies and apple spice cake were divine! Boogard's is within easy walking distance of Central station, but far enough away to be very quiet. The Anne Frank House, museums, restaurants and the tram are all within easy walking distance. Our room was well appointed and adjacent to a living room area complete with laptop, coffee maker, and an endless supply of the baked treats du jour. A cell phone was also available for us to make local calls to our friends staying in another part of Amsterdam. Peter was a wealth of information about all aspects of Amsterdam and even made reservations for us at nearby restaurants where we had marvelous seafood one night and an authentic Dutch Indonesian feast on another. We really enjoyed meeting all of the other people staying at the B&B and had lively conversations with Peter and the other guests. It was hard to leave the breakfast table in the morning since it was so much fun just eating and talking. Peter also helped us make advance reservations and print out tickets to the very popular museums so we didn't have to stand in line for hours. We also stored our luggage there while we went off to Texel Island in the north part of Holland. Wilma, the housekeeper, was also very gracious, doing our laundry for us which was much needed after a week on a barge/bike cruise! We can't recommend this B&B enough!

I am so happy we were able to book a stay with Peter and his family. My sister and I visited Amsterdam for a week and were looking for something not much over 100 euros, yet clean and centrally located. Boogaards greatly exceeded our expectations. Fantastic home-cooked breakfasts and afternoon treats, two wonderful little dogs, and Peter, a most engaging and outgoing host. Loved every minute - if you don't feel spoiled by Peters hospitality, then I think there's no pleasing you. I hope to visit again some day - thank you Peter for making a good vacation GREAT!

Boogaards B&B was just as good as we had been led to believe from the reviews. Excellent location on a quiet street in the historic canal district within walking distance of the station. Our room on the second floor was a little small with no closet space, just a hat stand, but beautifully decorated and with comfortable beds, and a well designed shower room. The shared living room was delightfully cozy and equipped with TV, computer, a small kitchen with ample snacks. The round table breakfasts were fabulous and entertaining, given the interesting company and the effervescent owner Peter. The included laundry service was especially appreciated.
Be aware that the building is tall and narrow, with four floors. There are 2 bedrooms on each of the second and third floors with a living room in between. The stairs are very narrow and steep and, although comfortably carpeted, could be a problem for those who have difficulty with stairs. We were given lots of welcome help with luggage both up and down.
Peter, who is bilingual in Dutch and English, was exceptionally helpful with information about the city.
There may be cheaper B&Bs in Amsterdam but I doubt you'll find a better one!

When my husband and I looked for B&B accomodation in Amsterdam a couple of months before our recent trip to Europe, Boogaard's B&B rooms were already full. However, since one floor of their gorgeous home has now been converted into a self-catering apartment, we decided to book that. We are glad we did, and happy to recommend it to other travellers.

After arriving at 9:30 on a Sunday morning, we were able to leave our luggage and head out exploring Amsterdam. The apartment was ready as promised when we returned in the afternoon. Everything was as described on Boogaard's website, except better! This is "self-catering" with lots of frills. The fridge was stocked with cold cuts, cheese, yummy Dutch yoghurt, milk, juice and even beer. Cereal, bread, coffee, tea ... everything we needed for breakfast, was in the cupboard. A delicious homemade cake awaited our arrival, which was followed by another a couple of days later. The fully equipped kitchen included a new bistro-style coffee maker. Wilma, the housekeeper, even did our laundry, which was greatly appreciated after our two weeks of travel.

There are two bedrooms in this apartment, each with its own ensuite bathroom, providing great accomodation for two couples travelling together, or a family with older children. We travelled alone and had the Boxer room, at the back of the house. It was spacious and nicely furnished with a dresser, desk, wardrobe and TV with DVD player, comfortable bed with lots of pillows, spotless bathroom with a great shower and fresh towels daily. Being in the back of the house, this room overlooks other houses close by, as all of these very old homes are built side by side. However, we had lots of light from the big windows and were comfortable leaving them open. It was very quiet and private during our four day stay.

And then we come to the reasons we choose to stay in people's homes ... like this one ... instead of impersonal, chain hotels. The cozy living room had comfortable seating and lots of lamps for reading. A laptop computer was provided, with free Internet access. Guidebooks and other reading materials were on a shelf beside the stereo and CD's. Artwork and memento's of Peter's singing career hang on the walls and sit here and there around the place. Peter himself is friendly and helpful, and tells interesting stories of his days in New York theatre. He was even kind enough to show us around the house (beautiful!) and tell us the story of how Boogaard's B&B came to be.

Last but not least, Boogaard's is very conveniently located close to the central train station and lots of shops and restaurants, with art galleries, museums and other things of interest only a short ride away on easy to use public transit.
