We were attending a conference and stayed a couple extra days in Amsterdam. As our family was 5 adults and one infant we were looking for an apartment close to the city center. Boogard's 2 bedroom apartment definitely fit the bill. Although a sitdown breakfast was not included, the apartment kitchen was well stocked and ready to go for our own private breakfasts when we arrived. Peter checked us in himself and gave us a tour of the building and a history of the city and the Jordaan area.

Briefly, the apartment has 2 bedrooms, each with a queen size bed and an ensuite bathroom. The rooms are small but tastefully decorated. The kitchenette had a microwave, stove, refridgerator, diahwasher and coffee maker. This was all most people wil need. The common area between the bedrooms had a couch and two chairs with fresh flowers and a table with a laptop for guest use. The staircase up to the apartment is narrow and steep, but common for most in Amsterdam. Those with mobility issues may have trouble as there is no elevator.

Peter's welcoming and friendly personality immediately puts you at ease and enhances the charming surroundings. One drawback to the apartment is not being able to enjoy sitdown breakfast with Peter and the guests in the lovely breakfast room.

A nice touch was Peter's offer to do laundry for us, which was a generous and appreciated gesture. His helpful suggestions were also great for sightseeing. He also booked several restaurants for us that we were unable to do from home before we left.

Overall, Boogard's was an excellent choice and we have no hesitation in highly recommending it for a nice stay in Amsterdam. We would also suggest the smaller rooms for the full B&B experience.

This was our second visit to Amsterdam and we knew exactly where we wanted to stay. Returning to Boogaards was like coming home for a family visit. We recalled exactly how to get there, rang the bell, and there was Peter greeting us. His adorable dogs were there as well. It was early so our room was not ready. Peter had us leave our bags and they were brought up later. We told Peter where we wanted to go and of course he suggested a much better way to do it. Upon return, we had time to relax and chat with Peter. He and his partner have done a wonderful job of renovating this charming house. He even showed us the detail of his personal living quarter. The B&B is located on a quiet street a block from a canal and walking distance to everything. We never took public transport. It's a very easy walk to the train station as well. There is a common living room shared with another guest room. A mini kitchenette is stocked with alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages, tea/coffee. Peter has an evening dessert waiting as well as other snacks. There are travel books, free wi-fi, even umbrellas should you need one. Rooms are very comfortable. We stayed in the Jack Russell room. One of the highlights is the delicious breakfasts that Peter prepares! You do have to be able to climb a steep staircase so if you have mobility concerns, a hotel might be a better choice. Boogaard's was our first B&B experience and I am so glad we chose it. Feel free to email Peter with any questions as he can be very helpful in planning your visit. Book with him directly. Peter and Tomas- we shall return again to enjoy your hospitality!

Room Tip: I like the Jack Russell room. It is a back room and very quiet.

The breakfasts are fabulous! Peter is better than staying with any relative ever! He makes reservations, gives directions, gives suggestions of what to see and do, and entertains with lovely stories. Beds are comfortable, sitting room and kitchenette is lovely. Can't say enough about a wonderful stay in Amsterdam. Didn't want to leave!!

Guiltily I must admit that we have been using Trip Advisor for over 5 years but have never entered a review. Now my conscience has got the better of me and I thought I would start with a bitter/sweet review of Amsterdam & Boogaards. The bitter part was having our bag snatched when we were three doors from getting "home" to Boogaards at 9:30pm on a lovely summer evening 6 weeks ago. WARNING to all tourists in Amsterdam: watch out for cyclists coming up quickly from behind. You don't hear them coming, they are silent and can snatch your bag and disappear before you know it. Now for the sweet part. My wife and I have stayed at dozens of B&Bs in many countries and Peter's set up would have to be one of the best. Not only is it centrally located in a lovely quiet street in the better part of Amsterdam, but the clean room, amenities & breakfasts were all that one could expect. The guest lounge area was always stocked with drinks and all sorts of goodies. Also heaps of reading material on Amsterdam and other topics. Peter supplied maps and has the knowledge to advise you on wherever you want to go or whatever you want to do. Peter & Tomas were perfect hosts. Peter especially, after our unfortunate incident, went out of his way, calling the police, and letting us use his phone to ring Australia to cancel all our credit cards and our mobile phone account. (The thieves got all our cards, cash, mini iPad, phone, two chips with four weeks of photos, keys, etc) He refused to accept any money for the phone calls. He is also a very funny guy who loves to talk. Ask him about his acting/singing career in the USA .... prior to becoming Amsterdam's best B&B proprietor.

My family of 4 recently rented Peter's 2 bedroom apartment. What a lovely street and close to everything and just a short walk from Central Station. The apartment itself, was a good size for our family - we have 2 teenagers. Bedrooms were large and full of light with windows that open and each had it's own bathroom. Beds were extremely comfortable! Peter generously stocked the kitchen with breads, cold cuts, cheeses, eggs, pancakes, beer, coffee, tea and treats that lasted all five days. I also thoroughly enjoyed my conversations with Peter and wished we could have stayed long. Don't hesitate to book this apartment. Bed and breakfast also looked beautiful.

I stayed at Boogaard's for 5 nights and it was one of the best hotel/b&b experiences I have ever had. The rooms are very comfortable and decent sized and the bathrooms are private and located right off the bedrooms. The shared sitting room is comfortable and well stocked with great Amsterdam travel literature. The rooms are on the third floor and the stairs are very steep but, this being Amsterdam, that is not out of the ordinary and they weren't even close to the steepest stairs we encountered.
The location is amazing. About a 5-10 min walk from the city center including the royal palace, red light disctict, "green light" district, and Ann Frank House plus there is a great bike rental shop nearby that will make it easier to see the farther sights like the Van Gogh Museum. I don't think we could have been in a better location.
Peter is absolutely amazing. He is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about everything you would want to know about. The best part of Boogaard's though is the food. Absolutely, completely, delightfully amazing! There are literally no words to describe how great Peter's food is. I would highly recommend Boogaard's to everyone.
