“A great place to stay”
Reviewed 30 September 2012

My wife and I stayed at Misc eatsleepdrink for 3 nights and were very happy with our time there. The room (Africa room) was very spacious and met all our needs, even though it was on the top floor, up a very narrow staircase. It had a wonderful view of the canal out front of the hotel and was reasonably quiet despite the amount of people passing at all hours. The highlight of the stay though would definitely be the breakfasts. Outstanding quality and very filling. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful in supplying local knowledge. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Amsterdam, a fantastic stay!!

This hotel/B&B is located adjacent to the new market in the red light district. We took a room on the court yard side. There was some noise at night from loud voices in the small street next to the hotel. The room was very functional with three large windows and a nice bathroom. The breakfast was outstanding with cold cuts, cheese, fresh bread and croissants plus eggs cooked as you wanted them with generous bacon, fresh coffee and juice. A great value for your money.

Room Tip: Ask for court side

We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of September. Based on reviews, we'd chosen to be on the courtyard side of the house. Quiet! We checked in very early and as our room wasn't ready, went off exploring. When we returned, our luggage was in our room (no small feat...the stairs are everything previous writers have described) and we were impressed too with the generous mini fridge, king sized bed and general funkiness of the door. Breakfasts were fantastic. Specialty coffees made to order. The location is quintessental Amsterdam...on a canal and close to everything. Rachel and Pepijn are wonderful hosts. Honestly, I wouldn't look any further. (One caveat...if you have difficulty with stairs, this charming little place is probably not for you.)

it's not as if this place needs another glowing review, but here's one anyway. we thoroughly enjoyed staying at misc eatdrinksleep. our third floor room on the canal side was a little noisy at night, but easy to sleep through and chalked up to city ambience. i'm still dreaming about the fantastic water pressure in the shower. as others have said, the free minibar was an unexpected major convenience, and i even got a few euros off the bill for the couple breakfasts i skipped. the location truly can't be beat. rachel and pepijn were both super knowledgable and helpful, not to mention friendly. as another reviewer wrote, i left with the sense of knowing some people in amsterdam -- which is a testament to their hospitality. and as we were leaving, i believe they were working on adding air conditioning, so summer 2013 travelers may be in luck!

I wanted to stay in the characterful old part of Amsterdam and this fit the bill perfectly by a canal. If you want to experience the architecture of one of the lovely old buildings- stay here! The stairs are crazy- it was like climbing up a ladder but typical of this style of house. Big room, 2 big windows, very clean, big bed and quirky decor. A quality room with individual character which was just what I wanted. Nice breakfast. A bonus was the fact that I emailed about arriving early and the hotel was happy to look after our bags while we went sightseeing and the same the following day when we checked out. Yes there was a little street noise but what do you expect in a city with single glazed windows in an old building? I used my ear plugs and the white noise machine and slept pretty well. tv has english channels which was good.

Room Tip: I think the quieter rooms are at the back but I liked the view of the canal

I can't say enough good things about this terrific, friendly little boutique hotel. The location is ideal - we walked easily to the Dam, the flower market, Anne Frank's house, and the Amsterdam Historical Museum, and caught a tram to the other museums. We stayed over a weekend in a garden room (Wonders, on the second floor) and had no trouble with noise. Breakfasts were delicious - as others have mentioned, bacon and eggs to order, croissants, fresh juice, cheeses, cereal, fresh fruit, etc. We saw Rachel more than Pepijn and she was super helpful with directions and advice. Highly recommend.
