Foreigners beware, they tried it on with us in a very obvious way, handing out 10 euros short - food's okay - we're locals, though they clearly didn't think we were, we'll not go there again

We didn't have food but came in for a couple of drinks. Really warm and friendly atmosphere. Customer service was excellent and the bar staff always served with a smile and made sure people were comfortable. Will come again and try the food next time!

Eetcafe Lusthof is a small pub-like restaurant that we stumbled upon while walking near the large concert hall in Amsterdam (the Concertgebrou). The menu looked good but we opted for the daily specials for dinner - pumpkin soup with bread and brie and vegetable quiche. Both were delicious and quite reasonable by Amsterdam standards. I can't be absolutely sure but I would bet both were homemade.

We returned on another day and had salmon which was very well prepared. For €22.5 pp we each had a complete meal consisting of a pate with cranberry compote, salmon with salad and fries, and lemon cheesecake for dessert. And we returned another time to have their sate chicken dinner with salad and French fries for about €15 - another good meal.

There are quite a few restaurants in this area and we checked out the menues and prices of many of them. I can definitely recommend Eetcafe Lusthof as a reasonably priced restaurant with very good food and service.
