My wife and I stayed at this hotel last June (2011) for a portion of our honeymoon. We used Priceline's Name Your Own Price tool and ended up getting the Moevenpick. I had not really heard of the hotel before, but it turned out to be an incredible place. It's in a quiet location with beautiful views and not far from the train station or city center. The room was clean, tidy and completely comfortable. It had a nice large bathroom, a comfy bed and a nice lounge/couch against the window. The restaurant downstairs (the name escapes me) was also very good.

We'll be sure to visit the Moevenpick the next time we're in Amsterdam!

We re entry stayed at the hotel prior to boarding a cruise ship. Our hotel door was just steps away from the port's entry door and the ship's people collect your luggage from the hotel and deliver it to the ship, all we brought were our carry-on items. We were shown a shortcut and walked all over the city from the hotel and were also able to get onto a canal tour boat steps away, too. The breakfast buffets were huge, varied, and the dining rooms look over the water. Downstairs we also dined at the hotel's bar after a long day of walking around Amsterdam and that worked out well, too.

Room Tip: Ask for the water view and watch the ships arrive and depart. We were quite high and the views were...

Our flight arrived very early in Amsterdam, so we had to check in early. The staff at Movenpick were very understanding, she let us check in before 14:00 without any problem, so we could got enough rest before starting our trip. The room was modern and very clean. The room service was really fast. The location at this hotel was great too. It was only 10 mins walking from the central station, or there is a tram station cross the street, or a boat stop is next to the hotel. The only thing that is not so positive about this hotel is they only offer 3 (or 4) hours of free internet connection when internet is free at most hotels in the world.

We stayed at this hotel for one night and the room was very spacious and comfortable and most important clean. We had a room on the 8th floor which had an excellent view of the water. I would suggest requesting a room on the 7th floor or higher as you may not get these views otherwise as there is one building directly in front of this hotel. I was disappointed in the WIFI as it was very slow, not as good as what was advertized on the hotel website. The hotel is not close to the centre of the city and therefore you will need to find another way of getting around other than walking.

Next to the train station this hotel is a quiet and convenient place. You have a nice view from the window, either the sea or the town( don't take the the rooms with the view on a building on one side only). You are one station from the Centraal Station and the tram is in front on the door, or you walk 10 minutes.
The rooms are functional and conformtable, breakfast is generous, staff is friendly and efficient, meeting space is well organised ( Joanna Kessler, Riccardo Perez and a 3rd very nice man)
If you need help with your rooms , see Jane,a very efficient lady, and Christopher!
Enjoy your stay.

I spent 4 days at this hotel on business. First of all, the hotel is not in the main tourist area of the city. That being said, it is walking distance to the central train station. It takes about 20 minutes at a moderate walking pace. If you want to walk leisurely, it will take about 30 minutes. From the central station, it is about another 10-15 minutes to the "center" of town. The hotel provides a shuttle to the central train station every 30 minutes. This is nice. Space is limited so you must call the concierge to reserve a spot. Only 8 people can fit in the mini-van so you better call ahead. So for those of you who want a to stay in a hotel at is literally minutes from the center of town, then this hotel is not for you. I am typically one of those people, but I honestly didn't find the walk so bad. That being said.......

The hotel itself is modern. The rooms are excellent. I stayed on the 19th floor in an executive room. The beds are good. There is a flat screen TV. Free Wifi that was fast. The views are also very nice from so high up. The decor in the room is modern for those people who are interested in such. The mini bar is free and restocked daily. But don't expect too much, they have only beverages inside.

The breakfast buffet is excellent! It suits European and North American tastes. There is an executive lounge for the people staying on the executive floors. Every day from 5-7pm they serve small little warm hor d'oeuvers. Beverages, including wine, are also there. This lounge also has a refrigerator with drinks and a coffee/espresso machine and this is available anytime for executive guests. It is a nice touch.

The service at this hotel is truly excellent. I cannot say this enough. The housekeeping is friendly. The restaurant staff if friendly. The front desk staff is superb. The concierge is also nice. Be sure to ask about tours and activities from them. I got a canal tour ticket from them at a discounted price compared to buying it directly from the vendor. Oh. It does rain a lot in Amsterdam. The hotel will let you borrow an umbrella for free. The hotel as other facilities too (spa, business center, another restaurant), but I did not partake.

Enjoy your stay!
