“brilliant hotel.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 September 2012

MY husband and stayed here for four nights.we was expecting a good hotel because of the reviews but the hotel is better than expected. The views are brill and the rooms are spotless, with tea and coffee replenished daily.the rooms are very spacious and so is the bathroom.there is also a satalite tv we used the shuttle bus on a daily basis booked through concierge..we often had remko de vos who took us to and from the station who was always very helpful and polite, nothing was too much trouble for the concierge staff.this is an excellent service using the shuttle bus, you do have to book in advance because they get booked quickly. We also used the sauna every day, this to was immaculate with plenty of towels, shower gel and body lotions and a good gym to use..the hotel as four lifts which are very fast we was on the 16th floor and it only took seconds to reach.I don't know what else i can add to this, only to say if you are visiting amsterdam choose this hotel. we looked in a few whilst in the centre and none was as good as the movenpick and for the price you pay there is no comparison.

Room Tip: we stayed on the 16th floor all rooms have excellent views

Won Movenpick through Priceline's "Express Deals" for $90/night. Its was definetly worth in. I was concerned prior to my arrival because some reviews stated that the hotel was "far" from the city center. It is further than some other choices, however still within walking distance. The shuttle runs every 30 minutes (until 7:30pm) to Central Station which is the transporation hub of the city. From there you can take the international trains, the local trains, or the tram. You can also walk into the city. If the shuttle is not running, its about a half-mile to the hotel.

The rooms are comfortable with awesome views. Note: our queen bed was actually two twins pushed together. There's also a sofa and desk. The sevice was good (with the exception of Dasha at the front desk who never called the cab I requested and then commented "she couldn't see me" although I was standing about 10 feet from her for 15 minutes). I would recommend the hotel and would stay again.

The hotel is excellent. The service is perfect. The people at the reception and the restaurant are friendly. The rooms are spacious, clean and have an amazing view of th river and city. The breakfast has a huge selection of delicious foods and tea/coffee. I definitely recommend it!!!

Loved this place. Would happily go back and it's worth spending a little more on. Room were clean and modern. The breakfast was fantastic as was the dinner menu. It's in a fantastic location and be sure to make use of the shuttle service to the train station.

Stayed here for a short break in February 2012, the weather was freezing cold and all the canals in Amsterdam were frozen over, however we received a warm welcome from the staff at this lovely hotel. The staff were really helpful especially when it came to directions to visitor attractions and local transport queries. The hotel was really modern and beautifully clean, we had a corner room and had great views of the river and towards Amsterdam city centre. The transport links to the centre of Amsterdam are really good the tram stops almost outside with trams every 10 minutes to the city centre

Stayed at Movenpick during my 6-day August 2012 vacation in Amsterdam. Through Tripadvisor, I found a 40% discount for an executive room (for a more than 4-nights stay) that was really a bargain for the executive amenities provided by the hotel (complementary mini-bar replenished daily, great views from top floors, executive lounge for breakfast /relax /computer access, free light buffet -wine included- from 17:00 to 19:00). SO CHECK OUT if you can also get a similar offer - it is worth every penny ! If you plan to use the hotel shuttle bus, you can call them on arrival (and picked up just right of the exit at the northern-seafront side of the Central Train Station) but also remember to notify them the day before departure, as chances are that there might not be available seats otherwise. There is also a tram station (tram no 26 if I remember correctly) just in front of the hotel to the Central Station (note that at the central station you will use the same tram stop to go back to the hotel). I made use of the Amsterdam Card that gives unlimited access to public transport and free entrance to museums, also a great bargain for its money, that eliminates the only minor disadvantage - i.e. slightly off-center location - of this highly recommended hotel

We stayed for 4 nights on end-July in this hotel. The cruise terminal was next door and we were to take a cruise after our stay in Amsterdam, so it was very convenient. The hotel is close to central station and the canal bus stop and tram station are just across the road. We had a room on the 19th floor with superb view across the harbour. The breakfast spread was excellent and we had very good dinners at the restaurant as well as at the bar downstairs. The only disappointing thing was the speed of service at the bar and we had to wait a long time to get our drinks and food. Staff at check-in was also trying to persuade us to pay more for a suite . However, overall it was a very good experience
