The other reviewers have pretty much said it all. We stayed for a pre-cruise weekend. It is not really city center. I think if you are going to stay in Amsterdam, you should find a little hotel on one of the canals. I would rate this hotel somewhere between a 3 and a 4 because of that.

That said, it was clean and the room was nice. I did complain to the manager about the shower as well, it was not only slippery but it's also difficult to use. My husband burned himself trying to figure out how to use it and the manager didn't seem to care. (BTW you have to make sure the shower head is turned away from you and then turn the hot water handle toward you. Then immediately start regulating the hot water with the cold water - then you have to be very careful not to touch the pipe leading to the hot water as you fumble to adjust the water temp while taking the shower).

This hotel is out of the way for the customers but convenient for the Viking Cruise line since they can pick up everyone and transport them to the boat more easily. I was just disappointed because in Amsterdam, I would have liked to stay in a romantic hotel on a canal.

The food was also mediocre but the staff was very nice. You can also dine overlooking the water in the harbor. It's an awkward 15 min walk to the train and tram depot.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor because you will have a nice view

Stayed here in April in an executive room, which has everything you need and is within walking distance of the station and centre. Ideally located away from the major tourist areas which nice when you want to relax.
On arrival there was a long wait to get a room but this was no problem we indulged in drinks and lunch in the restaurant.
Basic Wifi is ok, and serves for most purposes. Breakfast is good with a wide selection, only thing is if you get there late you wont get as fresh cooked food.
Hotel shuttle takes you to the central station which is a bonus.
Cant fault the stay the only thing I would say needs improving is the showers in the room they are pretty weak in power.
We will be returning at the end of August for more fun times in Amsterdam

Room Tip: executive room should be on high floor having the best views,

We booked a trip through Viking riverboats and stayed 2 nights before our departure to Basel. The price included transfer from the airport to the hotel and breakfast for both mornings. The room was small, clean, efficient and had a nice view of the river. We did use the gym one morning, and found it clean and sufficient but it did not open until 6 am and due to jet lag we were ready for it to open earlier. Food was good at the buffet breakfast. It was a bit of a walk into town but not a big deal for us. I'm just not sure it was a deal to pay so much and would hesitate to book a package deal through Viking again. My husband inquired at the desk and they quoted a price of just over $200 a night.

Personally, I was a bit disappointed in this hotel after reading some of the great reviews on Tripadvisor.. perhaps I just expected more. Check-in and check-out were efficient and the concierge and bell hops were helpful. Our included breakfast was excellent and offered something for everyone; I especially enjoyed the mini Dutch pancakes! Our room was not cleaned until late afternoon on our first day there and on the second day, the housekeeper arrived after 4 pm and we were beginning to get ready for an evening out so we just got clean towels. One couple in our group had water pressure and hot water availability problems and notified the front desk when first discovered. This issue was not resolved until the evening prior to our departure; so they were able to get a nice hot shower before our early flight home! The walk from the hotel to the city center and train station is perhaps a 25 minute walk, not a 10 minute walk (unless you are running!). Of course, you could catch a tram across from the hotel and be there more quickly. The hotel offered complimentary shuttle service, but the van only seated 8 people so was usually filled to capacity which meant that you would have to wait 30 minutes or more for the next available shuttle.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor for better views.

This hotel on the waterfront adjacent to the large ship cruise terminal and dockside for the river cruisers is a beautiful modern high end hotel. It is the preferred hotel for several of the cruise lines including Viking. Rooms are large and comfortable and all fixtures and furnishings appear to be new. The dining room overlooks the harbor and is quite elegant. Breakfast buffet included in many packages is fabulous offering both typically American(eggs and bacon) and European(smoked salmon and cold meats and cheeses) food choices. The bar is quite large and comfortable and offers a limited menu for lunch and dinner. Across the driveway one can catch a street car into the Central Rail Station where you can transfer to other cars and trains. Or you can walk to the Station about a half mile. The old city center and canals are easily within walking distance and museums by street car.

Room Tip: Ask for either harbor view or old city view.

Hotel generally nice but shower so slippery that my wife fell and was seriously hurt.

One other negative is that the hotel is not really in what I would call the city center. However, this is mostly mitigated by the fact that it is on a tram line.

On advantage of the hotel is that it is located close to where our Viking cruise ship docked.i
