“very good location, worst hotel”
Reviewed 25 June 2013

Location is good and thats it. The hotel is bad, the rooms are very small , steep stairs with no elevator. The entrance is the entrance of a bar. On arrival we discovered that the toilet is shared !!!! Although it was advised in the description that the rooms have bathroom. We discovered that they only have a shower and a tiny sink with no toilet.also the crew is very very rude .

I stayed in the motel weekend, the rooms are very small.
all rooms are without toilet, it's shared. It was written during reservation "private bathroom" . So watch out.

the room is not very clear, add way too small.
the location is fine, but toooooo expensive for such room and service.

please avoide and dont recommend

The room was small but this is expected in Amsterdam. The room and the bathrooms are kept clean. Having a bar at the hotel was very nice as well. Two of the workers (Yousif and Klay) were really nice and fun to talk to in the bar area. They knew about all the information I was looking for.
The late night shift worker on the other hand was completely rude. Not sure what is problem was but hopefully he wont be working there when i go back.

A group of us stayed in this hotel for a friend's 40th birthday earlier this month. It's a very central location, but in view of it's location, the hotel is surprisingly quiet and we didn't get any disruption from the human traffic outside. What helps is that the hotel is tucked right into the end of a very long street, so it's not as if it stands on a main thoroughfare. So in this sense it's location is perfect.

The manager, Yusuf is a very pleasant, easy going and agreeable bloke and on the day of check out was easy going about us leaving our bags in the reception area all day, given the early checkout and the fact that we had a late flight. He also offered to keep our passports in his safe, which we did. Despite our nervousness about doing both, everything went fine.

The toilets are not on suite, but there are both on suite showers (at least there was one in our room), and public showers in the hallways. This gives the advantage that you don't have to queue for the on suite shower with whoever you're sharing with and you can use the one down the hall if need be.

The hotel even has it's own cat, which is very chilled out, and hangs around in the bar or on the front steps, and gives the hotel a homely touch.

I only have one tiny criticism, which is that despite the fact that there were overflow holes in the sinks, there were no plugs! I thought it might just be our room, but I noticed that the one in the shower room down the hall was the same. Not sure if this was the same throughout the hotel though?

In summary we had a good stay and I would definitely consider staying there again the next time I visit Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Ask Yusuf if he has a plug!

From reading some of the reviews on here I was slightly worried about this hotel, however I really shouldn't have been its a really friendly place, for the price one of the best locations you will find, of course its not like the Ritz but its a one star hotel in Amsterdam, so what do people expect? the down side is yes the toilet isn't in the room but we had the 6 bed bedroom and it was literally as soon as you walk out your room to the right so that didn't make a difference at all really. If your going with your mates its a fantastic place, and I would recommend it.
