Dirty, uncomfortable, unfriendly staff, and over priced. Charged us a deposit for TOWELS AND REMOTE CONTROL. One of the A**HOLES working there yelled at us for coming in late when we weren't even making any noise. We had an emergency and they wouldn't even let my friend who was staying in another room call or visit my room. This place was the absolute worst. There are other great hotels in Amsterdam for much less money, accommodating staff, and cleaner rooms with private bathrooms and showers. Try the Mozart Hotel. We were so relieved to stay there after staying at this hotel from hell. JUST DON'T GO HERE. Oh, and they over charged my credit card to top off our miserable stay.

This lovely hotel is right next to one of the gracht. Just ask for room with the view. The only con are the steep stairs to the upper flors. But it is usual in Netherlands. Hotel Titus serve nice breakfast downstairs. It contains from milk/tee/cofee and some rolls with butter, marmelade and cheese. They offer free WiFi.

The hotel is very conveniently situated in a good area. The hotel is clean and fairly basic. The breakfast was very good. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and polite.
Yes, we will return and the stairs are part of the Amsterdam experience!

I don't understand the negative reviews. For the price, this was the best value hotel that I stayed in during my month long tour of Europe.

Pros:
- Extremely cheap - I paid 50 Euro a night for a double room, which is about the price of a cheap hostel, let alone a hotel in such a great location.
- FREE breakfast - The quality of the breakfast was unbelievable. Breakfast included fresh bread with a platter of ham and swiss cheese, a hard boiled egg, packaged jam/jelly, orange juice, and access to a lovely cappuccino machine. Possibly the best free breakfast you will ever eat.
- FREE internet - There is a computer in the lobby which anyone staying in the hotel can use for free, as long as you don't stay on for too long. What a luxury. Every other hotel I stayed in charged you by the minute for internet access.
- Great location - Located in one of the nicer parts of town, in the middle of the restaurant district, only a short walk away from the Van Gogh museum and the wonderful Vondelpark. Far, far away from the seedy red light district and the thieves that inhabit the region. For fans of coffee shops, it is a five minute walk to the best coffee shop in town, Easy Times, which has the highest quality product.

Cons:
- Quality of room - The beds were not very comfortable and the walls were very thin. But in one of the greatest late-night cities in the world, you shouldn't be spending much time in your room anyway. If you have trouble sleeping, go to Easy Times.
- Bathroom - The toilet and shower are located in the hall. But the shower is spacious and hot water is not a problem.

Overall, 50 euro a night for a double room with high quality breakfast is one of the best deals you will find anywhere. Sure the rooms aren't the best, but it is in a great, safe location and for that price what do you expect? For people that don't mind staying in a 1-star hotel, this is truly a hidden gem. Highly recommended.

This july we were 4 grown ups who travelled to Amsterdam. We first spent two nights in one 3 star hotel, and then 2 nights at Hotel Titus, and the price for these two hotels were exactly the same. We knew that Hotel Titus didn´t have the best standard, but we didn´t imagine that it could be SO horrible. To make a long story short:

- The walls were dirty with black prints. The sheets had big holes, and looked really dirty.
- When someone in the story over us took a shower, the water would come into our shower. (so, it was impossible to take a shower)
- There were MICE where the breakfast was served.
- REALLY noisy. People having sex and lots of shouting.
- Did not feel safe at all. Was lying in my bed thinking that someone would burst into our room any minute.
- Creepy staff.
- NO roomservice. (the only thing they did was to replace the soaps)
- The photos you can see on their website do NOT look like anything like the rooms.

We woke up to someone next door having sex in the middle of the night. Probably around 4o´clock PM, all the drunk men and teenagers started coming, and they yelled and screamed, and turned on the TV like they were having a party. This happened every single night, so we did not get ANY sleep AT ALL.

The last night my family sat by the table where the breakfast was served. Suddenly, a mouse ran by. We said this to the manager, but he allready knew about it, and promised us that it was only mice here, and not in the rooms. I doubt it.

If you want a place to sleep, this is not the place for you. I felt like my money was being wasted, and it was too pricey for this kind of standard. I loved Amsterdam, but this hotel is the worst hotel I´ve EVER been to!
