“Exquisite Stay at Kamer01, the BEST B&B in Amsterdam”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

I love staying at a B&B! It allows you the flexibility of getting to know more than the usual tourist stuff about the city you're exploring (since the owners are accommodating) but at the same time, you feel as if you're a regular citizen in that city (since the B&B makes you feel like you're home). And staying in KAMER01 was the BEST one for me YET!

From the great location, very stylish furniture to the most well-planned rooms and warm hospitality of the owners (considering Amsterdam is such a cold country, haha), KAMER01 really delivers, bar none! My mom and I stayed in the Blue Room -- it has the most AWESOME view of the Amsterdam canals, making you feel as if you're Dutch! Haha :) Plus the breakfast was so delicious -- authentic "Dutch" treat for all tourists!

Peter, the owner, was SO helpful -- giving us tips where to eat, how to get around and how to really maximize our vacation itinerary. My mom took so many pictures of their awesome home! :)

Really, if it's your first time to visit Amsterdam, staying in KAMER01 is a MUST! You're going to get your money's worth, or even more!

Thank you KAMER01! :)

Room Tip: BLUE ROOM!!! It has the best view :)

Having read The Guardian's review I was expecting something special and found it. The three days I spent at Kamer01 were a joy. The location is fantastic, with Amsterdam being a city that is a delight to walk it's beautifully placed, the service, thoughtful, warm and caring, the room comfortable and original, breakfast is artistically and perfectly presented, is different each day and comes complete with a view. This is a place where the smallest details matter. If I were to live in Amsterdam it would be in a canal house so to stay in the attic (blue) room was to be able to experience what it would be like with not an ownership care in the world. I would stay at Kamer01 again should I return to Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Either the blue attic room or the intimate red room. It doesn't matter at all.

We stayed at Kramer 01 from the 4th to 6th of May. We were warmly welcomed by Peter with a drink and then shown our wonderful blue room. If you want to stay in a traditional canal house but enjoy the comforts of modern living this is a wonderful place to stay. Location is fantastic, close to the centre but far enough to be able to relax in the numerous bars / cafes. Breakfast remains a highlight at Kramer with both Peter and Wolter providing superb service and a great choice of food to set you up for the day. If you need advice / bookings then Peter & Wolter and great hosts, with both having an extensive knowledge of Amsterdam and Holland, far more than you can get in a guide book. We ate at BHP restaurant (recommended by Peter) which is well worth a try! It’s not the cheapest place to stay in Amsterdam, but the accommodation, location and personal service make it well worth the money!

Room Tip: Personal choice, but the Blue room is amazing!

We stayed here from 6-8 May 2013. It is located in the best bit of the best bit of the city, very close to many of the main sights and attractions. Peter and Wolter have designed a fun and cool interior to an old house, and they run the B&B with real care. They were happy to recommend things to do, restaurants and so on, and they also booked museum tickets for us. We loved Amsterdam, and knowing that this place is here may well induce us to return.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Blue Room, on the top floor. This has a real garret character, with sloping wooden...

Beautiful small B&B, overlooking one of the canals, where you feel totally at home. Peter and Wolter couldn't be more friendly and welcoming: from offering you a drink on your arrival right up to ordering a taxi when you leave and everything in between. Fabulously located within easy walking distance of anything in central Amsterdam. Rooms are very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Probably the first place that I have stayed that I have ever wanted to revisit.

What a delight it was to stay here. Peter and Wolter are amazing hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. A beautiful home in a perfect location. Close to restaurants, bars, shops. I hope to come back very soon.

You could not wish for a better place to stay. Peter and Wolter run a superb b&b and nothing is too much trouble.
Breakfasts are presented with a lot of love and care and we cannot recommend this little piece of heaven more highly.

Room Tip: There are only two rooms equally as good as each other.
