“The local people's market, cheap & good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014 via mobile

This is the market where the local people go to so you get real good bargains here.

From foodstuff, fashions/accessories, household products, homewares to flowers, there are all sorts of merchandise. The vendors are very friendly and warm, offering us to try the cheese and nuts with no obligation to purchase.

It is worth a visit even there is no intention to buy anything. The atmosphere is very welcoming and you will end up buying something.

“Local market, cheap eats”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014 via mobile

On our cycling trip around Amsterdam, we literally stumbled across this market. It has an eclectic mix of cultures and food selling some tourist stuff but also lots of fresh produce, clothing, etc. I tried a traditional salted herring here and it was surprisingly tasty, except for the texture! But as they say.......when in Rome! ;)

“More for locals except for the cheap eats”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

Tram 3 and 9 passes by this area if you want to take a look. Merchandise is mostly for local consumption - cheap clothes, houseware, the occasional cheese vendor, fresh meats and produce. If you're looking for cheap souvenirs, you're better off at Albert Cuyp.

However, if you want to see the multi-ethnic side of Amsterdam, this is the place to go. Unfortunately, there isn't much in terms of market stalls selling ethnic dishes, though there are restaurants in the area serving Turkish, Middle Eastern and Surinamese cuisine. Cheap eats can still be had - there's a fried seafood stall, a doner stall and grilled chicken vendor who sells the unspiciest peri-peri chicken wings (at least the kip pieces are fresh and juicy).

“Eclectic”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014

You get everything that you may want at a bargain. PeoPle from all over the world are selling their wares. From vegetables to clothes , cheese and chocolates, needles and threads, shoes and socks. Its quite amazing. i think it caters to the low income grouPs because thinks are easier on the Pocket than in the city center. You can reach this lace by metro , most convenient. Don't forget to go to Boers to buy cheese . If you go early it is not very crowded.

“Fabulous mix of produce”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2014

This is a very local market, with many different types of shopper. There aren't any antiques but there are bargains to be had. I went looking for fabric and found some amazing selections and some cut price guttermann threads.
There are loads of eating establishments there too. We checked out the turkish pizza cafe where they did me an amazing breakfast even though it was 2.35pm. There are a good selection of cheeses here so don't pay for the overpriced stuff in the city centre
