“Fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2011

Wow loved this hotel posh reception and well smart rooms. The receptionist was so helpful and let us check in at 10am as our flight was early morning. Our room was on the 3rd floor and you felt safe as you had to use your room key to get through the lobby doors, once in our room it was very smart with a red chair blue lights lighting up the bed and cool wall paper. We were a bit concerned about the bathroom not having a door but all we did was put the tv on and the shower if we needed to use the loo. With the hotel being near the business district it was a quiet night so no loud drinkers, was easy to get into the town as the number 5 tram goes straight to central station. I would highly recommend this hotel it's clean and has all you need in a hotel room

Probably the first thing anyone wants to know about this hotel is the bathroom situation...no, there is no bathroom door, but the bathroom itself is around the corner from the bed and breakfast bar so whilst you can hear everything, you can't.see what's going on. For those who prefer more privacy, there are toilets on every floor, which are quite nice in itself.

The main attraction of the room is the mood lighting, apparently each room is different. Ours was blue and the room was decorated nicely, completely unlike any other hotel room I've stayed in before. There was a breakfast bar and a recliner in the room, both rather nice touches. The wide screen TV was nice but didn't use it all that much. Not all the rooms have a wide screen TV (one evening, I accidentally went into the next room - the rooms are opened with electronic swipe cards, I'm not entirely sure how that happened but thankfully there is a safe in the room). Not much space to hang clothes but we only stayed for a weekend so it wasn't an issue.

The hotel is located out of the city centre, about 15 minutes by tube, which is convenient if you prefer a quieter area. It's surrounded by a residential area and business area with hogh rise buildings so it's very quiet at the weekends, but there was a Sunday craft/farmers market in one of the nearby squares. The hotel is right next to the tube station, so if you fancy heading out late at night, getting to the action and getting home by taxi is very easy.

Overall, a fun, unconventional hotel with 24h reception, would definitely recommend for short business and leisure trips. (Would be perfect for anyone who works in RBS as the building is less than 1 minute away by foot.

Beautiful large rooms and luxurious buffet's breakfast
Courteous and friendly staff
With about 20 minutes by metro to the center
The only drawback: no door to the bathroom

Interesting, fun hotel in great location, two minutes from train / metro station and just round the corner from tram stop, from which trams go to museum district and main train station. I stayed here to see a show at the Amsterdam Arena, as there is a metro train directly from the station, and felt fairly safe walking the short distance from the train station to the hotel alone late at night.
Friendly staff, who speak English. Rooms really quirky and different from the norm - corridor outside my room had green lighting and actual room, when entering, had red lighting (although you can change this), making it feel a little like a theme park. There was no window so when the lights were turned off it was pitch black, which allowed me a great night's sleep! Turning on the lights in the morning, having the soft, different coloured lights working through their sequence was a gentle way to wake up too.
Room quite minimalistic, with just a bench table and a couple of stools at the end of your bed (and the TV above), so was not really sure where you're supposed to put things but was not staying long so was not a problem. You step up into the bathroom so it kindof feels like you are on a stage. As stated by others, the bathroom has no door, which is a little strange but fine if you're in the room alone!

Easy transport to/from Schiphol and Amsterdam town. Nice quiet business area to stay in with nice coffee shops in local vicinity. Right next door to Amsterdam Zuid station. Tram #5 (from behind WTC) or #51 (from inside the station) to Amsterdam Central. Make use of the mini cards at the hotel to save a little money around the attractions. Ask the staff if you need information because they were fantastic and so helpful.

Room Tip: Book well in advance if possible.

First off Qbic is very clean and the location is fine. It's really close to all the public transport which is fantastic. It is a little far but 20 minutes to the main areas isn't bad at all.

The weird toilet was ok. I figure if you're traveling with a gf or bf I'm sure they realize you poo and pee as well.

The only negative was that there weren't any windows. It was real tough for us to wake up at a proper hour. When we did wake up the lights were too dim to see and we were extremely tired. Not having any real lighting was pretty bad for us.

Overall it depends on what you want in your stay. If you wanna be a grizzly bear and hibernate it's great but if you're on business looking to refresh I could see this place being a problem. For the price it isn't bad but I think I'd look elsewhere next time.
