“Great: location, Slate: large safety deposit”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

This hotel is situated near a lively district containing all the best bars and restaurants and is also a stone's throw from the museums (as the name suggests). I feel the location is what really sells the hotel though, as the service and room sizes are not that great. However, it is good value for money and you get what you pay for. The rooms are very small but clean; luckily Amsterdam is such a great city, you won't be in your room for long. WARNING - you have to pay €100 upfront on the day of arrival as a sort of deposit. I didn't have a credit card so the money was taken off my debit card then given back to me in euros on the day of check out, this was annoying. Plus the room tax was deducted from this. I'm not sure why the fee was so large - I haven't had this in other hotels.

Close the lively nightlife of Amsterdam. Good bathroom and shower! Room very clean. Situated on the edge of a stylish channel. The Hotel staff is very personable, kind, responsive and competent. My standard book provided a very small room, which is already expected in Amsterdam.

We met a friend here at this hotel (have stayed here several times over the last 2 years), the location is fantastic for visiting the Rijkesmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the House of Bols. it is close to Leidsoplein and Hard Rock Café also.

Rooms are small but clean and have what you need. Breakfast is very good.

Fab deal from last minute.com. Just wish breakfast was included in our rate. Hotel was in ideal location we walked everywhere. Room fine just pretty small & bathroom door bizarre. But was all generally fine. Staff helpful too. I'd return. Enjoy!

Nice hotel, however not a lot of floor space in the bedroom or bathroom. If you go as a new couple, you will feel very comfortable with one another after staying here as the bathroom door is just a misted glass, so you can pretty much see peolpe on the toilet. Bed was comfy and staff helpful. Breakfast was awesome, they had scrambled egg as well as the usual stuff you would get in a continental, toast, jams, cereals, rolls, cheese, ham, croisants etc.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights. 10th - 15th February. We travelled over by Euroline bus company which seemed to take forever! Taxi from Amstal Station cost 15 euro's.
On reaching the hotel, we were faced with carrying our cases up the entrance step's, luckily for us a member of staff was coming on duty and he helped my wife with her very heavy case.
At reception we were met by cheerful and very polite staff. We had to pay a 150 euro deposit which, due to looking at reviews on here we were aware off.
Our room was on the 4th floor. Yes, it was on the small side, but it was clean, with just about enough storage space ( we both packed far too much). Bathroom was also small but had a very nice shower, lashings of hot water. Our complimentory shower gel was removed after a couple of day's. Not sure why! Opaque glass bathroom doors did not bother us. We had on booking requested a double bed but ended up with two singles pushed together, again not a problem. They were clean and comfortable and we both slept very well. Our only complaint about the room was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, although even if you are not having breakfast in the hotel, you can have free tea from the buffet area. If you want coffee you have to pay for it. On the Saturday morning they were only using paper cup's. This seemed unacceptable.
If you want a brilliant full English breakfast we recomend The Arran Bar, just a few minutes walk from the hotel. 9 Euros.
We did spend some time at the hotel bar, most of the time we had to go and look for a member of staff to come and serve us.
All in all a good hotel to stay in, close to all tourist attractions. Trams just one block away.
Yes we would stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed in 427 nice and quiet.
