“Good price, service and location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

This hotel had a good front desk service, and a good location to visit the Rijksmuseum and to get the Sightseeing Bus service. The property looked dark, old and worn, including the room which had a private bathroom. The room was comfortable but had a continuous, low buzzing noise coming from a device in the ceiling that looked as part of the AC.

The breakfast had the average cold and hot food. A luggage room was available with security tagging and identification.

Overall our experience at this hotel was very good. We would come back to the hotel but not to this city. Overall, we did not like Amsterdam: too many people in bicycles competing for space against pedestrians and motor vehicles, and too much marijuana smoke in the streets; at least around the museum and hotel area.

Room Tip: Our room was at a top floor facing the street. We did not hear any disturbing noises. The view was...

Dear Sir/Madam,

What a pleasure to read your review of your recent stay with us. Thank you for sharing this review and for all the kind words.

I also would like to thank you so much for recommending our hotel. It is very important for a hotel to produce good reviews as most people nowadays will first check Tripadvisor before booking a room.

We stayed for 6 days 5 nights at this hotel for attending a conference at the RAI amsterdam and of course to enjoy the city of Amsterdam. We decided to choose a location that is not too crowded, like in the Amsterdam Central Station, but the hotel with easy access to the tram and metro. Best Western Hotel Apollo is certainly an ideal fit with our desire above.
The front office staff is very helpful and quick to assist us. Deluxe rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Overall, we are satisfied staying at this hotel.

The Best Western Apollo Museum Hotel, once called just the Museum Hotel, is situated on a perfect spot, near the Rijks Museum, the Vondelpark and 5 min. walk from the Max Euwe square ( Rock Café ) and the famous Leidse-square.
The hotel , once 5 different typical Dutch ( Amsterdam) houses, is restored a few years ago.
There is a large lobby, lot's of places to sit down and free internet on two pc's ! ( in other Hotels in Amsterdam, I had to pay for it).
The room , the shower we had was very (!!) small ( 3rd.floor). It was very hot this days in Amsterdam and the air-conditioning was working bad: we called the lobby, somebody came ( did nothing) and for the last few days it stayed very hot in that tiny room.

Room Tip: Asked at the desk about the seize of your room !!

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for leaving a review on TripAdvisor to share your experience in our hotel with the rest of the world.

Thank you very much for sharing our ideal location with your fellow travellers. Our hotel is located in the heart of Amsterdam. We also provide free WIFI-codes to our guest so they can use their own devices in the room- or as you mentioned, there are two pc’s in the lobby that are connected to a printer and internet as well.

I am truly sorry and I would like to apologize about the inconveniences you experienced with the air-conditioning. Please contact me directly so I am able to find out what happened. I am also not sure what room category you stayed in. We do have single rooms, double rooms, twin rooms and deluxe rooms. For only 10 euro extra a night you are able to change a single room into a twin one- and for 25 euro extra a night we can offer you a deluxe room.

Again- Thank you very much for taking the time to write us a review and do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any questions or remarks.

Yours sincerely,

Gönül Uyanik,

Location was fantastic. Close to museums and block away from the buses and trams.
Appropriately labeled a three-star. If your expectations are high for a hotel, I would consider looking elsewhere. If you have the understanding that European rooms are small, you can make it work. Wifi is free, but I found myself losing internet every few minutes. My A/C went out and couldn't be fixed until the following day. Would help to have staff that know the area better- I requested locations but was brought to a wrong location. Nice to have elevator. I requested a room with a view and got just that- awesome view of the Ryks. Would've been nice to have a more thorough daily clean- I found simple areas that were not cleaned.
If you can get a good deal on the room and mainly only plan to sleep there, it's just fine.

Room Tip: Ask for the 5th floor- the elevator only takes you to the fourth but the little window has great vie...

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review on Tripadvisor. Nowadays a lot of people do check Tripadvisor before booking a hotel- so your review is really helpful and much appreciated.
Unfortunately I cannot see in which room you stayed in. We do have several room categories and you might consider an upgrade for 10 - 25 euros extra a night.
The points you make regarding the cleanliness of your room is in contrast with the level of service you may expect from us. I will definetly share this review with my housekeeping staff. If possible, please do not hesitate to contact me directly for some more specific information regarding this matter.

Thank you for choosing our hotel and I hope we can welcome you again to the Best Western Apollo Museum Hotel.

Best regards,

Very good location near parks, museums and upscale shopping...however our room was not good. Very very small and not clean. No breakfast included. We were only there one night, or we would have asked to change rooms.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you very much for sharing your review with the world on Tripadvisor.com.

We take all of our reviews very seriously and I would like to apologize for the cleanliness of the room. Your point is in contrast with the level of service you may expect from us. I will make sure to share your comment with the rest of the team and the housekeeping supervisor to prevent situations like this in the future. If you have any specific points regarding the cleanliness I will encourage you to contact me directly.

Unfortunately I cannot see in which room category you stayed in. Just for your information I would like to let you know that for only 10 euros extra per night per room you may change a single room into a twin room which is bigger. We also have double rooms and deluxe rooms. Deluxe rooms have beautiful views over the canals and the famous Rijksmuseum.

I would like to thank you once more for taking the time to writing us a review and I do hope to have the pleasure to welcome you back to the Best Western Apollo Museum Hotel upon a future visit to Amsterdam. Please do not hesitate to contact me in person if you have any questions or remarks.
