“Great Spanish food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 February 2014

Really tasty, friendly staff, fresh fresh fish, good varied menu. A little pricy but authentic Spanish food- expect to speak Spanish with the staff! I would return without hesitation

“Another visit and another great meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 November 2013

Just getting to Centra is a challenge as it is bang in the middle of the red light district. But once you enter the restaurant you are whisked away to the sunnier climes of southern Spain.

The place hasn't changed in years, the decor is a bit tired and you're packed in canteen style, but the food and service is excellent.

True spanish peasant food is served in huge portions and washed down with excellent and authentic sangria. The waitors are freindly and the place is usually buzzing.

So if you fancy a quiet romatic meal in a nice part of Amsterdam, then don't go here but if you're feeling adventurous, want a truely authentic spanish meal in the dodgiest part of town - this is the place for you.

“Typical Spanish Cantena feel.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2013 via mobile

Went here with some colleagues. Had a great meal and really enjoyed the feel of the place. It's not fancy - at all.
But the foods good and the so is the price. I will come back.

“Great food, great value, busy and exciting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2013

This place is hopping! Expect tight communal tables, lots of noise and activity, and great spanish food in the red light district. Everything (paella, garlic shrimp and more) was perfectly prepared and the service was quick. Nothing great to look at from the street, inside expect an experience that perfectly mirrors the controlled chaos that is Amsterdam.

“Red Light Fiesta”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2013

It seems slightly incongruous to find an authentic Spanish restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam's red light district but there it is: a kind of Hemingway with clogs on! Packed out by tourists, trippers and various expats opposite a store selling magic mushrooms no better place to eat after a hard day on the bongs. The paella was brilliant and authentic with just the right sticky rice consistency. Place was packed so harrassed service was slow but worth the wait. Almost expected to see Romero in a suit of lights pirouetting past the gawping red light tourists as they let the bulls through the streets. . Try the paella or the ham all the dishes are authentic and good value for money. Over to you Ernest...
