What a memorable night at Restaurant Vermeer’s Chef’s Table. Their food, wine and service are indeed a holy trinity! We had the tasting menu – certain in the knowledge that Chris (Chef) and Simon (Sommelier) would know better than us the perfect combinations of courses and wines. We weren’t disappointed.
The food is beautifully presented (for the salmon course I actually hesitated to eat it as to cut in to it seemed slightly sacrilegious) and all the ingredients speak for themselves – some so fresh they have come direct from the restaurant’s roof garden. I couldn’t drink wine the next day, as it all tasted like vinegar in comparison to the nectars my taste buds had gotten used to the night before! The service was attentive and made us feel indulged, yet there was no stuffiness and everyone was happy to answer our many questions. It was clear that everyone on the team is passionate about the Restaurant and for one night, as the end recipients of all the care and attention which goes in to their food, drink and service, we were made to feel like all that effort and passion was just for us.
