This hotel is well situated with easy access from the motorway and parking (public car park). The staff are friendly and helpful, the public areas clean and well cared for. The rooms are small but nicely furnished, ours had a new bathroom. Some good attention to detail with coffee, tea and minibar in the room and a fold-away ironing board. I missed some accessories in the bathroom such as shower cap and better toiletries. We did not eat in the restaurant but the breakfast buffet was quite reasonable in quality and well supplied. The whisky bar is very pleasant for a drink and a snack and stays open until late. It is a 5 minute walk from here to the Frans Hals museum and about 15 minutes walk to the main city square.

Room Tip: Rooms higher up have a nice view of the park

Came there for an Easter weekend. Thought to make my missis happy and take the best room available. The hotel was quite booked and only available was junior suit. Booked. In addition, took some chocolate.

When arrived to the room, the chocolate wasn't there and had to request it at the reception.
The room we got - the windows were facing inner parking lot and the other side of the hotel - so basically no view at all. Another disappointment was the bathroom - the taps were running even when closed, some parts were broken off. :(
TV channels - just a few working, and only, maybe three watchable. Indeed, you might say that the hotel is not for watching the TV; however, after experiencing some hotels where there 70+ tv channels, one might feel 'under-pampered'.

On a positive note, we were surprised by the free mini-bar and complimentary whiskey and cognac bottles. Pity we don't drink though :D

Didn't try the breakfast, since 18,50 per person is a bit too much.

Location perfect - just in the center of the city.

Parking - got lucky on the Easter break it was for free, but be advised, otherwise, it might cost a bit.

Allover the stay was ok, clean, quiet and cozy. Would still advise to take a room here, if the right deal comes up.

Room Tip: junior suit - wont regret it!

We have just returned from Holland, having stayed for a second time at this hotel.
I thought the Junior Suite was lovely, and the new bathroom also. However, we had light bulbs missing on our arrival so had to call housekeeping, they were changed well some where.
Dinner on the other hand was not to be repeated on other other nights there, the service was very very slow, the food was not brilliant and would have just about fed my 18 month old Grand Daughter the portions were so small. The cost was well..... 95 euros for 2 courses for 2 people.
Breakfast was very good, and the staff were great at keeping everything topped up as the hotel was full for the weekend. Why can they not do a dinner in the same vain?
The other bug bear is that because the hotel is not busy on a Sunday the Whiskey shut, so what about the poor guests there on Sundays?
Staff were great and housekeeping kept everything topped up and clean.
Would certainly stay again.

Room Tip: Try a room at the back we had 108 which was really quiet.

Lovely hotel, excellent room, excellent food, very friendly staff & locals. 18 minutes bus ride from the Airport. We loved it. So much choice for breakfast. We had the executive room and mini bar, mixed nuts, chocolate & decanted whiskey, brandy topped up every morning.

Room Tip: The view from upper floors are WoW.

The hotel entrance is very stylish and inviting. Our room was well furnished and comfortable. We were disappointed when we went to have dinner at 7pm as there were no staff, no other customers and the chef only appeared as we had decided we would not wait longer for attention. Coming from Scotland my husband was interested in the Whisky Bar, but there was nothing in our room to suggest that it was closed on Sundays,as it was.
We enjoy coming to Haarlem and will come and stay in the Carlton Square in future

I reviewed this hotel 2 years ago (Dec. 9th, 2012), so I will provide additional information only.
Unlike last time, we had a room at the back of the 4th floor (420). Starting at the 6th floor, all rooms will be updated in the course of the following years, which, among other things, includes a renewed bathroom and a new bed box with topper system. This renewal took place in our room already.
The room is large, with textile floor coverings, and is very well decorated. It has an excellent double bed with a topper on it. There is a small problem, namely the topper shifts easily. So when waking it is possible that the topper protrudes about 15 to 20 cm. It is said that not all accessories have yet been implemented, so it might be that the problem is solved in the near future. The room also has a double-glazed window, but in old frames, so the wind comes through. Nevertheless the room is warm enough, and when you arrive in summer, there is air-conditioning. The bathroom is excellent: a large room with a walk-in shower with an excellent working shower. There is also a large washstand, all impeccably clean.
As I said in my first review, breakfast is excellent. This time we had dinner too, which was of very good quality at reasonable prices.
The kindness of the staff is great and makes the stay very pleasant.
As I said before, the hotel is very recommendable.

PS: To correct my review from 2012, in which I recommended two good restaurants (Ristorante Napoli and Gandhi), but indicated the wrong direction: leaving the hotel you have to go two times to right instead of left!

This is great place to stay for couple of nights when you are on business trip.
Decent size rooms with all you need. Clean and well maintained. I was also staying in superior room , so my experience is a little bit off mark in terms of standard features in regular room.
Central and convenient location.
Friendly and very helpful multilingual staff.
Decent breakfast and good restaurant with reasonable prices. Late night bar is also very good, at least you would spend better time there than in other locations nearby.
Relatively quiet location with no heavy traffic around.
My the only complain is that they do not offer all-inclusive parking there, and the fees for underground garage are a bit on higher side.
