Plus:
* all you can eat sushi for a fixed decent price! (22-25 eur)
* some sushis are a real treat
* friendly staff, fast service
* homemade ice cream

Minus:
* on Friday/Saturday: fixed sessions and diner times. Crowded. You will be requested to leave when a new shift is starting. Annoying.

Bad service late with orders forgetting the items we ordered, I had to ask repeatedly for my order. And even then they came with the wrong items. The food was average at best and the service overall was terrible. Worst of all the bill was massively expensive for the quality approx 50 euro per head for below average takeaway food. I really do not recommend this poor commercial establishment

Tried the place another time after my first bad experience.Took a long time to get seated (in a virtually empty restaurant) and drinks took a long time to arrive.
Sushi just lacks taste and the more 'exotic' ones all taste the same! Even in an 'all you can eat' place one expects a bit more. Will not try again.

We love sushi...having lived previously in Vancouver Bc we are pretty spoiled whne it comes ot eating quality sushi so perhaps it is a bit unfair for us to judge harshly. Never the less, I will report our experience.

Service...my husband ordered a beer - twice...never received it.
Food - we elected to order ala carte as I personally can't eat 23e worth of sushi normally. I had maguro - it was perfect, edamame - also perfect though a small serving. Miso soup...absolutley terrible. SO salty it was inedible. One waitress said I wasn't the first to complain that evening but they would not take it off the bill. Spicy tuna roll.....not good...fishy tasting and mushy fish...more like a tuna fish sandwich consistency. Spicy prawns/gambas - okay. Purple leaf gyoza - no taste really without the dipping sauce. My husband said his choices were very generic...felt like they were purchased in the super market and made yesterday.
From reviews would be willing to try in another city, but will wait to hear from other reviewers that it has improved before returning.

Shabu Shabu is another entry in the quick-service 'all you can eat' sushi market. Unfortunately the location in Haarlem is of poor quality, the service is questionable and the prices are not in line with what you receive. Although the location is convenient the decor is rather dark and depressing even for an evening meal. I assume it is meant to be a cool/chic atmosphere but the overall decor does not succeed in achieving this ambience. The service is quite abrupt, unfriendly and for non-Dutch speakers/tourists many questions get lost in translation due to poor English-language skills by the wait staff. (We were also served “bad/skunk’ beer and were forced to pay for their mistake and not offered any other options. ) The sushi itself is made very quickly lacking any precision and certainly lacks any taste due to poor sushi-grade quality. There is the opportunity to go through 3-rounds for both hot and cold dishes (we only completed two) so for the very ambitious diners one could get their money's worth; however, for a standard couple the experience is rather cheap and lacks any refinement or class. Definitely an embarrassment for those who wish to experience a true sushi-dining experience. One could most likely attempt to re-create their dishes at home and the results would probably be a big improvement over their kitchen.
