The location of this hotel is great. You're located directly at the beach within walking distance of all beach pavilions and the town centre. The hotel itself disappoints somewhat, especially because it's a 4 star hotel. The rooms are very small and there is no air conditioning. Even though it was only 15 degrees outside and very windy the room was very warm, so i can only image what it would be like during the summer.
The staff and the breakfast buffet are OK as well. No real complaints, but everything is just lacking of what you would expect of a 4 star hotel.

Well after reading the reviews for this hotel online, both here and other sites, we truly were expecting something out of Fawlty Towers.

What a pleasant surprise! On arrival, I asked whether it was indeed the sea view room I requested and was told there wasn't any available. I expressed my disappointment (we had in fact specifically booked this hotel for the sea view) and within minutes, the gentleman at the desk had found us a suite overlooking the sea. The rest of check in was very smooth and we entered the lift (it needs to be seen to be believed!) and made our way up to the 4th floor where we were absolutely delighted with our new room. It was a beautifully modernised and bright apartment consisting of a bedroom, living room, kitchen, shower room, toilet and walk in wardrobe. And of course - the balcony with that view.

The cold weather and grey skies can take nothing away from sitting on the balcony drinking and smoking and watching the sun set. Simply perfect.

Breakfast was the standard range of continental foods together with some hot items like eggs/bacon etc. It was all fairly good - my advice though - stay away from the 'fresh' juices. They are like rocket fuel and I have no desire to give myself early diabetes just yet. Oh and the toaster - make sure you switch it on first rather than standing there for 15 minutes thinking 'It's not turning brown'.

All in all, the hotel was clean and modern and from what I saw, does not deserve its awful reviews. The customer service, particularly from the young man at the desk on check-in, was second to none and we have no real complaints at all.

We will be back in the new year.

I agree with all the other reviews. Location is excellent because it's right on the beach and close to the centre of town but for the rest, the hotel is a dump. While the beds are comfy and clean, the room is terribly small with two single beds pushed together and enough room for a small travel bag. The bathroom is even smaller again with grey towels that were probably white at some stage in their life. The hotel corridors are dark and gloomy and the elevator is wall, ceiling, floor covered in ugly dark carpet. The breakfast buffet is u-shape which means max 4 people at a time only in trying to get food. Add on the fact that they're very slow in refilling the food trays when they're empty adds to this frustration.

Best Western - What are you thinking listing this as a 4 star hotel? If you call it 2 stars people won't be so disappointed.

A big, ugly building in a great location on the beach. Just behind a beach bar that's a great place to get a drink, enjoy the sun, and watch the scene.

My room was very small and very bland. Yes, it had a view, if you stood straight up and peered out the windows. The bed was uncomfortable and saggy. The TV was tiny. And the WiFi didn't work.

The hallways are dingy and the reception area is dated.

Breakfast was OK. A buffet suitable for a 2 star hotel.

I called to make a reservation. While on the phone with their people I checked the site and the same room was €25 cheaper online. So book online.

Room Tip: Book online. Saved me €25 vs. booking over the phone.

If you don't mind ridiculously overpriced room rates, a breakfast buffet that is far from what you'd expect from a 4 star hotel and no air conditioning, but you want to be able to walk onto the beach of the Dutch coastal resort Zandvoort an Zee, then this is the place for you. What they call an executive room, for a rate of a whopping 249 Eur a night, would be called simply "room" by any normal 4 star hotel. They obviously exploit their location to the full. For their rates, if it weren't for the fact that you can hear the waves crashing from any open window (not all rooms have a balkony, not even all executive rooms), this hotel would have closed shortly after it opened. If you decide to stay there, be sure the weather is going to be fantastic, otherwise it is really not worth the money you pay.

positive impression...fairly old hotel but recently renovated, these efforts seem to be successfull...small, but clean, modern equipped room, excelent heating system , which saved my stay in the middle of a freezy cold spell in February, new bed with good sleeping quality guaranteed, modern flat screen Tv set with numerous International programmes, clean fridge of good cooling performance, nice, clean bath with shower, no bathing tub, the included breakfast is up to Continental standards, clean and friendly restaurant area with fresh pancake, srambeld eggs,bacon, saussages, a good variety of bread, croissants, muffins, toast etc. , salami, turkey, cheese, milk products, fresh fruits, different tzpes of Nescafe and various teas as well---very nice service , reception and restaurant, good information concerning Zandvoort and it s sightseeing attractions, excellent situation just five minutes ftrom the train station and bus line as well, also 5 min to a variety of small restaurants and supermarkets , just six minutes to the famous race circuit....ZANDVOORT CIRCUIT ...by circular bus traffic. The Hotel is directly at the beach promenade.

What is nice about this hotel :
- the beds : incredibly comfortable and the linens are really soft;
- the outstanding view on the see from the suites;
- the very large room;
- the staff. You really feel like most of them do their very best to please the guests with the limited means they have.

As far as the rest is concerned :
- we've never seen more gloomy corridors in a hotel (neons lights and weird smells) ;
- the whole hotel is really old (which can be OK but not when it's dirty) and definitely needs refurbishment ;
- the cleaning lady probably works too quickly since the room was all but clean when we arrived (dust a bit everywhere, bread crumbles and fat on the table, various objects under the sofa, view on the sea almost unavailable due to really dirty glasses, ...) ;
- you can hear people walking above you (not running or walking heavily) which gets pretty annoying while trying to fall asleep ;
- absolutely not the hotel's fault but this deserves to be stated : the MANGO'S BAR on the beach : a NIGHTMARE if you stay in this hotel on Friday or Saturday night. Just get ready to be listening to bass until the late hours.

We will definitely won't go there anymore, this place is absolutely not a value for money ; for the price we paid we've been used to far better service in other hotels.
