“Great climb and beautifull view”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

Nice climb wich leads to the top of the tallest church tower in the Netherlands. Don't forget to visit the Domtuin (situated alongside the church) afterwards.

Dom tower is beautiful and a must see if you visit Utrecht. Climbing the tower gives you great insides on the history of Utrecht and a spectacular view over the City.

“Beautiful and magnificently preserved”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

The Dom in Utrecht is the highest church tower in the Netherlands and is well worth a visit. The nave was blown down by a hurricane in the seventeenth century and its original outline is mapped out in differently colored paving stones so you can see where it originally stood. Be sure to visit the inner courtyard and garden with the beautiful statue of a monk.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

The church itself is interesting to visit with its cloister and stand-alone tower, a large part of the ship of the church was destroyed in a hurricane several centuries ago and never rebuilt. Utrecht is the seat of the archbishop for the Dutch Catholic church, still is, but the power of the church was broken during the Reformation and as all churches in The Netherlands it became Protestant church, therefore the decoration is rather minimal but it has an interesting history, as does Utrecht itself, dating back to the Roman Empire. In front of the church a lot of Roman remains were found and they are now open to the public, making the whole area around the church quite worthwhile to visit.
