“An unforgettable experience for little pirates”
Review of Het Arsenaal

Het Arsenaal
Reviewed 5 August 2012

We purchased our tickets for ‘The Arsenaal’ combined with the boat trip Breskens-Vlissingen. About €40 for 2 adults and 1 four year old child, not bad for a fun day out. Admittedly, some areas of 'The Arsenaal' are a bit outdated and need a new wind under their sails, but for the youngest pirates among us, this is one experience they won’t forget any time soon. Included was the tour, a 10% discount at the restaurant and 3 plays per person at the neighbouring arcade hall. Don’t visit this as adults alone, you’ll be gravely disappointed!

Visited july 2011 with two kids aged 5 and 7. We paid 40€ with a discount and thought it was a colossal waste of money. You learn more about pirates trying the Pirates of the caribbean ride at Disney world. The displays were of very poor quality, and the audio/visual "show" looked like it was made on a PC left over from 1985. The aquatic part of the tour was underlit and dirty to look at, and can be seen better many other places. Spend your money and time better elsewhere.

We visited Het Arsenaal today. Cost nearly 50 euro for a family of 4 to get in, and we found it to be claustrophobic, noisy and the attractions were pretty poor. Tasteless "Pirate's Cave", with several scenes unsuitable for young children (ours are 7 and 4). Various video features on display are of really poor quality. Also, the Arsenaal website would suggest that it provides for English speakers, but the reality is that there is very limited coverage; the video feature is in Dutch with German subtitles, and while some signage is provided in Dutch, German and English, there are significant omissions. Having paid the entry fee, there were various things which required additional payment to do, once inside. Well worth missing this place.
