Shanghai Hotel Holland

I stayed for one night during my trip. The hotel has a Chinese style, run by Chinese people, and the layout and design of the rooms and lobby makes you think you are in an Asian hotel.
The room I stayed was really big, with a really big bed and clean.
Some things I gave my feedback to the hotel:
- The bathroom doesn't have any toiletries apart from a single soap dispenser by the bathtub, which means that if you want to wash your hands/face in the sink, you need to go to get the soap from the bathtub.
-The room was cold, and the automatic air condition system didn't help, you make sure you turn on the heating for a while before going to take a shower.
-The breakfast was horrible in my opinion, with few options (English breakfast, or bread and butter and confiture), and didn't give me the impression to be of good quality for the price (no bacon left, the mushrooms tasted like leftovers from couple of days, and a lot of dirty tables with the breakfast rests from other guests)
- It is supposed the hotel is non-smoker, but somebody was smoking in his/her room since the smell got into my room through the vent system, disgusting when you want to sleep.
I didn't have dinner at the hotel, but they had dim sum available.
The hotel is close to the main road, and driving distance to Den Haag

Mu husband and I found this hotel via the booking.com website and was drawn to it because
- it's strategically located in the outskirts of the city; so no traffic jams and noise
- it is a good distance between the cities of Rotterdam and Den Haag; just a 15-20minute drive to each from the hotel
after looking at it further, we realized that we've stayed at this hotel before early in Sept '09 when we were on our first visit to the Netherlands. Back then, it was known as China Hotel Holland.

As it wasn't our first visit, we knew what to expect - good price, beautiful interior with lavish, chinese-themed furnishing, clean rooms and baths, ample free parking spaces both covered and open.

This time around, we stayed two nights and we had a bad experience on the first night as the air conditioning was down and it was a sunny 28degrees outside, so the room was very stuffy. We contacted the reception and the staff on duty that day tried to help so she delivered a ventilator/fan to our room. But it was still relatively warm and we woke a few times bathed in sweat. The next morning, on our way out into the city, we spoke to the staff at the reception, Sander, about the heat. He then gave us a free upgrade to the suite as that room had its own air conditioning unit! Next, he even helped us to plan our trip into Rotterdam and Den Haag by advising us on where to park and what to do.

Needless to say, our second night at the hotel was perfect! We had a lovely night's sleep till checkout the next morning. It's rare to find such level of customer service in the Netherlands and we really appreciate it. Will definitely be back when on our next trip to Rotterdam, Den Haag or Delft.

Our only complaint is that the hair dryer in the bathroom of both our first room and in the suite were not working very well - it had a tendency to overheat! Wi-Fi on the 3rd floor was pretty weak but it was great on the 5th floor. And what would make this hotel even better is a spa/wellness center :)

The Shanghai hotel in Delft (non-smoking) is run by real Chinese and that can be felt/seen overall from reception, restaurant, deco, etc. Nicely greeted at the reception, asked whether I needed help with my luggage, and at check out asking whether I had a nice stay.
The room was complete, bed was good, good TV with satellite channels as well as Chinese channels, coffee/tea facility and a nice deco. Bathroom was good, lacked a bit of color/character but that maybe is something more personal.
The on-site restaurant is ... chinese. A place where chinese people are frequent guests but a good menu but not like the Dutch take-away restaurants thus more authentic. As the chinese restaurant is the only location where one can eat, it also is used as breakfast room. This is not my thing.
The location is not that hot meaning that one is out of the centre of town and not much in the area. On the other hand one is not really far from any of the large cities in the area. For me, with car, it was centrally located as I needed to be in The Hague and Rotterdam.
Price-quality is certainly good and, once again in the neighborhood, I would stay there again.

We booked this hotel as it was very cheap and we just needed a quick stopover. What we got was a hotel that rivals 4 and some.5 star hotels we have stayed in for less than your average b&b. Although they are oriental themed the rooms are modern spacious clean and well looked after. The bed was huge and gave an amazing nights sleep. All the staff were so friendly and couldn't help us more. Great breakfast and if u have kids there is a McDonald's just up the road. Only down side for me was the menu was Chinese and I'm stuck in the UK food.wise.

We have past four nights in this hotel, well located at the highway and relatively close to city center and university area. Though not very professional, the reception was very kind and helpful. The rooms are quiet, spacious and up to standard. A big deception was the breakfastbuffet : dried-out surface on the scrambled eggs, ham with dry and curled edges, empty fruit bowls, dirty tables with remains from earlier guests. Staff was just speaking to each other without paying attention to the breakfast disaster.

I booked this hotel since I was there for a business meeting and all my (chinese) colleagues had already booked there and that would enable easier commuting to and from the meeting venue. It seems that the hotel has changed ownership (previously called China Holland). Most probably that is the reason that it had been receiving negative reviews which are not alongside my excellent experience. I was upgraded to a "suite" in the top-floor but also the "standard" rooms are nice. My room was ~50 sq.m. with a Kind size bed, TFT TV, bath-robe & slippers, a large coutch and working area/desk with free Internet. A kettler was available for coffee/tea. The bathtub was literally huge... above the regular full-size in length and width, with an extra bench... which can be used to place your laptop and watch some movies while soaking. The facade was practically a huge window, so that the room was flooding with light. Check my panoramic picture for the view I was enjoying... not picturesque, but still a nice, not restricted view. Delpht city center is 5mins drive and for that outstanding value for money, I will definetely select it again in my next visit.

Room Tip: Book a suite in the 5th floor
