Owner description: The Old Church of Delft dates back to 1050 ad. In this church are the tombs of the famous painter Johannes Vermeer, naval heroes and scientists such as Piet Hein, Maarten Tromp and Anthonie van Leeuwenhoek. The beautiful stained glass windows of this church are also worth seeing.

It was special to see how the church was leaning. It gave a beautiful building a very distinct and great feature.

Unique place, if you ever happen to be in Delft this should be one of the first places to visit, You can combine the Oude and the Nieuwe (old and new) churches to visit on the same day with one ticket (either places could be the starting point). Very reasonable amount for the tickets. Plan to spend a couple of hours as there are many things to see. You get a booklet and can follow each monument/tomb stone and each beautiful stain glass windows. You will be standing in awe inside this unique kerk. If you happen to be in Delft on a weekend plan to attend a Sunday service in this historic church.

This is a beautiful ,plainly decorated, church. The main attractions are the ornately carved pulpit and the richly coloured stained glass windows. Two that I particularly liked were the prodigal son feeling sorry for himself amongst the pigs, and the illustration of builders’ skills. The massive William the Silent window is also worth a detailed look. The shop has some nice Delftware and is a good place for buying souvenirs. The entrance ticket also gives admittance to the Nieuwe Kerk, even if you are planning to visit it on a different day, and is good value for money.

It looks a little bare nowadays but this has atmosphere. The same entrance ticket works for both Old and New churches in Delft.
